Description
Located in the heart of Providence’s downtown district, our former train station-turned-brew pub features classic pub fare, exceptional craft beers from all around New England, and a select few of our own award-winning beers that are brewed on site.

Nestled inside a courtyard that is a popular place to dine in the warmer months, you will feel the pulse of Providence but experience the warmth and charm of a neighborhood establishment. Our high ceilings, exposed brick and dark wood throughout provide unique character and ambiance.

Whether you are a local Rhode Islander or visiting Providence, we welcome you to USB!

Since 1993, Union Station Brewery has brewed and served its own handcrafted beer alongside classic American tavern fare in the former Union Station train depot.

Our brewers keep a small, rotating selection of seasonal and specialty brews on tap, as well as a wide assortment of popular craft beers.

In 2019, a few local restauranteurs and bar proprietors purchased USB, transitioning it from a corporate entity to a true Rhode Island brew pub with a neighborhood feel in the heart of Providence.

Welcome and enjoy!

On tap at Union Station, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out moderate roast, some oats, and a little lactose. Flavour is very thick, with highly roasted, almost burnt, malt, with a little lactose. Milky thick palate. Rather harsh but it's also a fun beer.

On tap at Union Station, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma smells like a hef, with lots of banana and clove. Flavour is like a hef / saison hybrid, with clove, banana, and spicy saison yeast. You know a brewery doesn't know what they're doing when they, themselves, describe their hef as tasting like clove and banana. Not so good.

On tap at Union Station, pours an opaque cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lightly dank hops, with some floral notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is rather vegetal in the hop department, with rotting notes, a little garbage and some dankness. This isn't working for me.

On tap at Union Station, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out dull earthy hops and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour has a lot of cardboard, with earthy hops, feet and biscuity malt. The cascade doesn't lend itself well to this. Lame.

On tap at Union Station, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out straw, crisp crackery malt and grass. Flavour is crisp and clean, with light grass and straw. Clean and easy, but forgettable. Okay.

The appearance was a copper color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white foamy head that slid off immediately. No lace.
The aroma had some sweet peach, and peach sour skin, light grassy sweet to semi-bitter in and around the background.
The flavor was a blend of the sweet and sour peach, soft yet quaint and nice. Aftertaste was peaches and fairly sweet. Finish was abrupt, somewhat sweet.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, pretty nice peach ale worthy of coming back to.

The appearance was a semi-dark mahogany color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white foamy head that slid off into oblivion to leave barely any lace.
The aroma had some truffle-like cakey sweetness, some peaches, light black cherries, little bit of earthy/leather sweetness, driftwood, light basement and some butterscotch at the end.
The flavor was moderately sweet, really malt forward. Dry sort of malty aftertaste and finish.
The palate was just a touch under medium bodied, still leaning towards more of a sipping sort of quality about it. Carbonation felt fine.
Overall, well, hmmmmm....I’ve had better barleywines and honestly, I couldn’t tell if this was American or English.

The appearance was a golden yellow color with a slight transparency about it. Just a bar pour’s kind of slim white head. No lace.
The aroma had some sweet peach, light tartness from the skin and then some grassy hops.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the peach. Aftertaste was peaches. Finish was peach sweetness.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. Fairly smooth along my tongue.
Overall, good as a peach beer which is what Union Station was going for.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 6.5

The appearance was a dark red to almost brown color with a cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a pretty quick pace. Sly lace.
The aroma had some earthy to grassy hop character, maybe somewhat tobacco-like flowing into some breadiness, light caramel/toffee quality and then playing with a little bit of herbal sweetness.
The flavor was moderately malty sweet intrinsically guiding the malts to be the aftertaste and quicken the finish with some dried leaves.
The palate was about medium bodied with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt low. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good old ale I think I could come back to.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head. Some lace, somewhat faint and stringy.
The aroma had some roasty coffee qualities, light earthiness, some dark chocolate.
The flavor was moderately roasty with a sly sweet to bitter chocolate nib biting into the aftertaste and following into the finish.
The palate was almost medium bodied, seeming to sit just a tad under. Some sessionability. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good porter worthy of more pours.
