Description
Kalispell Brewing Company is the city’s first independent craft brewery located in historic downtown Kalispell, Montana. Founded in 2012 by the husband-wife duo, Cole Schneider and Maggie Doherty, the English-major, former ski racing, beer-loving couple launched their love of beer and brewery culture by resurrecting the former Hendricksen Motors building on Main Street. After a long, and often arduous renovation, Kalispell Brewing opened its doors in the summer of 2014.

Can from Brix Bottle Shop in Kalispell, MT. Pours a clear yellow color with a large white head and excellent retention. Great lacing too. Pilsner malt aroma. Pilsner malt flavor to match the nose, with a mild hops finish. Smooth and clean, with a crisp mouthfeel. Medium-light bitterness. Medium body. A little more bitter than I like, but still pretty good.

Can from Withey's Health Foods in Kalispell, MT. Pours an opaque very dark brown color with a thick tan head and excellent retention. Decent lacing. Very faint dark chocolate aroma. Barely there. Straightforward dark roasted flavor with a mildly bitter finish. Both the 6.7%ABV and the 46 IBUs are well hidden. Medium-heavy body. Low carbonation. A good basic stout.

Taster at the brewery in Kalispell, MT. Pitch black color with a beige head. Great lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt and booze. Flavors of dark roasted malt, a little dark fruit, and a warm finish. Not harsh. I don't taste any chocolate. Too much dark fruit suppresses the roasted malt flavor. Not sweet enough for me, and very strong.

Taster at the brewery in Kalispell, MT. Clear dark mahogany color with a reddish tinge and a small khaki head. Decent lacing. Undefined aroma. Maybe a touch of caramel? The flavor is both very caramel sweet and syrupy, and also has a strong, warming finish. Thick mouthfeel. Good flavor but too strong.

Very clear golden and peach coloured body with a light soapy head, about two to three centimetres tall that leaves a pretty ugly lace on the sides. Aroma of citrus, dank grassy and herbal hops with a lot of flowers and alpha acids along with a light malty quality with some deep alcohol and bitter bite at the end. Medium-bodied; Strong dank and resinous hops dominate with a lot of grassiness, herbal qualities and some flowers that show a ton of alpha acids with a good deal of malt backbone and a touch of dry peppers at the end, but the alcohol is noticeable, as are the dry grassy qualities. Aftertaste is dry with a lot of herbal notes, some grassy qualities and basically a dank, resinous hop bite that shows throughout this sample. Overall, a very nice deep pure West Coast IPA despite not truly being on the West Coast - great to sample and even better when it's fresh! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Super One Foods in Kalispell, Montana on 26-July-2020 for US$1,67 sampled in my hotel room on the last day of my vacation here in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah on 04-August-2020.
