Description
The North End Tavern first opened its doors in 1899 as a neighborhood pub in Parkersburg's North End. Over the last century, the NET has grown into a restaurant and brewery and into a Parkersburg tradition.
Admin Note: Although the tavern officially opened in 1899, the brewery didn't open until 1997.

4 oz. sample at the brewpub. Pours light amber with medium white head. Aroma is light herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and medium small bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops and bitter hop finish. This is the marriage of scottish ale and a pale ale. Not my thing. Side by side with NET 5-Way IPA, I prefer 5-Way IPA.

4 oz. sample at the brewpub. Pours coal black with medium beige head. Aroma is light chocolate, medium/light body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is chocolate, some roast, and balancing hops. Reminiscent of hot cocoa. Side by side with Dawks Porter, I like Dawks Porter better.

Pours dark translucent amber with small off-white. Aroma is caramel, medium body, low carbonation, and some thin small bubble lacing. Taste is caramel malt, herbal hops, and caramel malt/slightly bitter finish. Not real hoppy for a double IPA, but I enjoyed this.
