Approximately 3 ounce sample pour (in a plastic oversized shot glass) at the brewpub in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The pour is a brown copper with more or less no head. The aroma is vanilla sweet and a bit of roast malt. The taste starts with the sweet vanilla, turns to the char roast and finishes with some nice pine hop. Good interplay between the flavors. The palate is medium to light bodied, low carbonation level, and a dry char mineral finish. Surprised to see this listed as 8%, did not feel that big. Nicely done, my type of Porter.

Approximately 3 ounce sample pour (in a plastic oversized shot glass) at the brewpub in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The pour is a lightly hazed golden, with a smallish egg white head. The aroma is caramel, along with a touch of apple fruit sweet, maybe some herbal. Unique nose. The taste has the strange bite, herbal fruit, maybe even pepper, I suppose that’s the hemp. A toasted malt carries the beer, nicely highlighting the odd spice herbal character (hemp?). The palate is light bodied, soft carbonation, and a nice dry mineral finish. Not sure I love hemp in beer, but this did a nice job highlighting it.

The aroma is caramel malt and floral resin and grapefruit hop. The taste is hop forward, resin floral grapefruit sweet, perhaps a bit of pine, a touch of bitterness, followed by the malt which kicks in the finish adding some sweetness. The palate is medium to light bodied, low carbonation level, and the sweet turns a bit chemically in the finish.

The aroma is dirty grain, with a bit of funk. The taste is toasted grain, that moves quick to diacetyl, and finishes very dirty. The palate is light bodied, lower carbonation and the aforementioned dirty finish. If they brew this beer for folks who are used to Bud Light, those folks are going to immediately have doubts about brewpub beer.

The aroma is caramel malt, lightly sweet and delicate floral hops. The taste is nice, the malt is caramel, naturally sweet, and the transition to the floral hops is smooth. The hops carry the finish, drying it out nicely. The palate is medium bodied, with a nice carbonation level and the clean dry finish. Nice one, certainly my favorite beer I tried at North End.
