Description

12/IX/15 - 33cl bottle @ Molenhof (Oostvleteren) - BB: II/2017 (2015-1180)

Clear deep blond to orange beer, big creamy off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, pretty yeasty, sweet, some ripe banana, fruity. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: bitter, character, some banana, sweet malty, caramel. Aftertaste: yeasty, very fruity, banana, bit sweet, more banana. Distinct yeast profile, soft bitterness, was expecting more bitterness from this hop farmer, but then again, I also know the reason why they launched this beer, so...

Huge, towering light cream-coloured head, leaving lacerings over hazy copperish golden beer. Rather neutral nose, maybe hampered by the big head. Herbs, faintly sewer-ish, putteke. Toasted flavour, very strange, part malty, part... yeah, what? Rotting vegetable matter comes to mind, and a hint of dry chocolate. Finish gets sweeter, gradually. Medium bodied, very slick, (hop)oily feel. Well-carbonated. IPA, my *ss - not even a classical British one. Get Belgian ales correct first, then start experimenting.

Clear warm golden colour, slightest haze, white head. Malty, light hoppy aroma, apricot, caramel, light fruity, yeast, some straw. Sweet malty flavour, light bitter, caramel, dried apricot. Quite sweet finish, malts, caramel, sweetener, light fruity. Not exactly true to style, but still.. a bit sweet, rather enjoyable beer. (from 75cL bottle @ home. 2014 vintage)

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Jaap. Thank you my good man! Slightly unclear dark orange color, medium sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is quite faint even after warming up for about 10 to 15 minutes. Taste malts, lightly bitter, a touch of hops in the distance but that’s about it. I hate to say it, but this is very boring.
