22 ounce bottle. Dark reddish brown color topped by a large rocky beige head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with notes of toffee and citrus hops. Big malty flavor upfront. Notes of burnt sugar, toasted pecans and resiny hops dominate the palate. Spicy hops finish this IPA nicely. Lots of flavor throughout. Big and bold, this one’s a winner.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a more or less black body, topped by a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma has a touch of spices, cooked vegetables and some higher alcohols, but most of all there’s roasted malts, cocoa and dark chocolate. There’s roasted malts and bonfire hints in the flavor, it’s quite dry on the palate, yet there’s a flavor of residual sweetness. Spice hints, dark chocolate and coffee. Long finish with lots of dark flavors. It’s certainly a nice one, a bit rough and unclean in the aroma, making me thing I liked the barrel aged habanero edition better, but I see I rated that a bit lower. Would’ve been nice tasting all editions side by side. 130822

Bottle, 22oz. It pours an enourmous dark beige head over a dark brown beer. Lots of dark chocolate and bonfire on the nose. Coffee and roasted malts too. The flavor has bonfire, dark chocolate and coffee, as well as a nice bitterness. Bitterness from both hops and heavily roasted malts it seems. Full body, a tad too much carbonation, and quite dry. Lots of dark chocolate and coffee in the finish. A pretty pleasant chocolate porter, well worth a try if you ever find it. 130822

Bottle, 22oz. Nice lacings left as the light beige head sinks. Amber in color, looking quite clear. The aroma is very hoppy, with resins, grapefruit, pine cones and lemon peel. Quite malty too, caramel and a faint nutty hint. The flavor has a very nice blend of piney, resiny hops and pineapple, and caramel maltyness and nuts. Rather bitter too, dealing very nice with the residual sugars. Full body, not dry, but sort of, and with a very nice carbonation level. It misses some of the quenching qualities of certain IPA’s, but it’s a damn fine beer that I’d love to see again. 130822
