Sample at Hay Merchant. Orange-amber pour with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty with a bit of hops in the background. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, caramel and grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a grainy malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

GABF 2013. Pours a fairly murky brown appearance with a brown head. Looks nice enough but the aroma was pretty heavy on the phenols, banana especially, with some burnt malts. Flavor was a similarly burnt bread, bubblegum, and banana. Kind of a disappointment being that the Hefeweizen is so very tasty. Oh well, this one is drinkable enough. May give it a shot again next year.

GABF 2013. Pours a clear burnt orange appearance with a thin cream colored head. Caramel, meaty, rich malty aroma that smells very nice. Flavor is pretty tasty, maybe a touch thin. Toasted caramel malty, toffee, light brown sugar, smoked ham flavor. Would drink again.

Sample at Hay Merchant. Opaque brown-black pour with a medium light tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and hops. Light-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of bready malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a roasted malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
