On tap at Freetail. Pours a cloudy amber with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong smoke and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with sweet caramel with nice lingering smoke finish, easy to drink, very good.

Draft - Dark malts and a bit syrupy. Cloudy amber with a thin white head. Dark fruit esters and a bit of booze. Lots of fruit peel and caramelized sugars. Odd and there is a slight astringency, but the oddness makes it uniquely interesting.

Draft - Skunky grain and noble hops. Clear gold with a rich white head. Light and grainy, with a nice bitterness that finishes crisp. I like it.

Tap at Craft and Growler - I really like their hefe, and this didn’t disappoint, either - creamy texture, full in the mouth - quite dry for the strength, with flavors of nutty malt, white pepper, clove, nutmeg - some sweetness arrives late, a bit live brown sugar - finish of tart baked apples - really nice.

Location: Draft at Hay Merchant, 2/17/14, Vintage 2011
Aroma: The aroma is malty, it has lots of toffee, some caramel, and brown sugar
Appearance: Pours a dark red color with a beige head and some plus lace on the glass
Flavor: The taste is malty and leans sweet, toffee stands out the most of the components
Palate: This one has a medium-full body, with a sticky and smooth feel
Overall Impression: Hay Merchant still has a couple of pretty cool things left over from their Anniversary Party, and this was one of them. I liked this one.

Beerfoot, Glaveston tap: Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is banana, clove, and a whole hock of yeast. Taste is similar: spicy and very fruity, but the yeasty, bready flavor is what really makes this beer stand out. A pleasant surprise.

On tap at Yard House Houston. A clear one, dark golden in color and with a finger thick, dense, off-white head. Some curtains. Mostly hoppy aroma, like dipping your nose into a bag of citrusy American hops. Some pale wort too. It’s almost full bodied, quite dry, and with a nice carbonation level. Bitter, hoppy flavor with some malty notes in the back. Lasting bitter finish. A pretty pleasant one, although tasting too much like wort, excluding the sweetness. 131112
