(At Grain in The Rocks) Hazy golden with good white head. Subtle pleasant aroma - bread with citrus hints. Light body with good carbonation. Nice light malty base with some delicate fruity floral notes. Citrus hints. Little bitterness, but there is is very pleasant. Easy drinking but elegant.

On tap. An average but not bad American Pale Ale. Body could be a bit sweeter to balance the citric fruitiness.

While my initial taste in 2013 was fairly mediocre, I revisited this beer at the Lord Raglan in 2015, and found it to be quite a bit better. In particular, it had a fuller body and a more pronounced chocolate note, with moderate bitterness...just a more balanced, rounded beer.

As with the Butcher Porter, this beer has improved quite a bit between 2013 and 2015. The latest sample, at the Lord Raglan, showed a bright, hoppy pale with some amber malt sweetness and a fairly full body.

From a 330ml bottle on 1/11/2013. Pours a clear golden with a medium head. Has a slight fruity aroma. The flavour is more distinctive, with quite a bit of fruitiness (particularly stone fruit) with a decent dry bitterness at the back. Has a fullish body and medium carbonation. Not a bad APA.

From a 330ml bottle on 31/10/2013. Pours a relatively clear golden with a medium to large fluffy head. Has a mild but pleasant aroma featuring stone fruit and passionfruit. There’s not much malt evident but there’s lots of zesty citrus fruit and a bit more stone fruit sweetness, finished off by quite a firm, almost tart hop finish. Has a medium body and carbonation. This is a quite solid golden ale, with quite a bit of character for only 4.5%.
