Nomikurabe @ Oedo Beer Festival at Machida. Pours super foamy, finally I am getting something from a pitcher that was hidden under the counter. Orange, hazy and well, by now totally flat. Nose has light saison spice and some fruitiness, touch of citrus. Tastes lukewarm, malty base but some hop as well, lightly fruity and nice citric. Not sure if this saison yeast is a good fit but if to disregard that initial foaming issue this is not too bad.

Nomikurabe @ Oedo Beer Festival at Machida. Pours amber, relatively clear, some foam that actually stays around for quite a while. Looks like a take on aBritish IPA and well, that's what it is. Malty and lightly sweet nose, not much bitterness there. Very malty, actually sweet with lots of residual sugar, low bitterness. Would not qualify this as an IPA, to0 sweet and too little bitterness. Somewhat drinkable though.

Nomikurabe @ Oedo Beer Festival at Machida. Pours nice golden, almost clear and looking definitely tasty. Light bready nose, malty for sure. Quite clean and hinting very light bitterness. Tastes soft, light bitterness and malty-fruity overall feel. Relatively easy to drink, not that special but works alright as far as this style goes.

On tap in Hiroshima at Raku. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A big toast and lemon nose. Super clear, fresh, toast, some straw, a bit of citrus. Very smooth on a hot day.

Tap at Takumiya. Orange-brown color, cloudy, with a tall, fine head. Nose of oranges, cloves, a bit of caramel. Fruity, nice citrus tang, clove, peach, banana. Dunkel character is light. Decent though not great.

Bottle from Hasegawa. Very cloudy golden, almost pastel, with a low, fine head. Nose is mikan, more of the sour type, with helles-like malts, biscuity. Ok but doesn’t really work for me. Caramel, Munich malt. Big citrus and very sweet and biscuity, honey, oranges, not enough tartness to balance. Also a bit too full and heavy. Interesting idea, with a lager-like base to the citrus beer, but needs tuning.

Nagisa Mikan Ale 5.5% I snagged one of the last bottles at Yamaoka 山岡酒店. A very cloudy honey orange-gold with a decent head of foam but no lacing whatsoever. An earthy orange with some diacetyl in the aroma. Medium bodied with quite a full mouthfeel. The taste is earthy, bready mikan (mandarin oranges) but there is a touch of sweet diacetyl as well unfortunately.
