Tap at JBT fest. Cloudy orange amber colour, small white head. Aroma is honey, bit of funkiness, bit herbal. Taste is nice. Sweet, honey, fruity. Fairly drunken rating so not many other notes. And my first mead, so who knows what I am talking about. Rerate at Beer Horn. Sweet and honeyed. Aroma is very much honey, but not just sweetness, feel like I can smell bees. Bit too sweet for me, but tastes good. Same score.

Bottle. Light golden brown, not much head. Aroma is brown bread, caramel. Taste is good, lots of malt, sweet, low carbonation, smooth, slight spiciness. Doesn't seem like a premium lager to me!

Bottle. Medium smokiness in the nose, some bacon, caramel, and herbal hops. Slightly hazy orange-amber with a medium, thick head. Basically a Marzen malt bill. Rich biscuity malt, medium smoky bacon, orange and herbal hops. Rather full and yeasty like a Kellerbier. Lightly peppery hop finish. A rauchbier with slightly toned-down smokiness, but a very well put-together lager.

(Bottle) Pours clear golden yellow, with small white head. Aroma of sweet toffee, rice and hint of cat pee. Light body with good carbonation. There's malty sweetness at the start, with some citrus balance. A rather harsh bitterness develops and persists in fairly long finish. A bit odd, but ok.

Tap at Sanjo Bikkuri Donkey in Kyoto. Donkey Organic Lager 5% Clear gold with a thick head and a bready malt aroma complemented by lightly fruity noble hops. The taste is of a crisp and clean lager with herbal woodsy noble hops notes and a sweet bready malt character. Surprisingly refreshing as I haven’t had this in awhile. (494¥ to 1,175¥ depending on the size). Really solid.

Golden-brown, a light colour, big head. Toasty, slightly caramel aroma. Mostly just sweet on the palate. Uninteresting, lacks sufficient malt complexity.

Cloudy, light tan, thick head. Has a spicy nose with vanilla and light banana. Light body. Sweetish. Yeasty, vanilla-accented character. No particular rye character.
