About
Brasserie du Bocq was set up in 1858 by Martin Belot. The Brewery was incorporated into a limited company in 1949. Independent of any Belgian or foreign brewer, it still beholds its own family nature. Located in the heart of the Condroz, wonderful tourist region, this dynamic company still uses the traditional manufacturing process of top-fermentation beers with secondary fermentation in the bottle.

In 1983, Brasserie du Bocq abandons the exploitation of Central Brasserie Marbaix -La-Tour, to bring all the beer production back to Purnode where the production tools have been radically modernized on the basis of equity. Today in Purnode, although the Belot family has sold its assets to the Keersmaekers family who has been producing the Corsendonk at the Brasserie du Bocq for over 30 years, and even though the brewery has far exceeded its regional framework, nothing has changed and the values of the company remain intact.

Slightly hazy white body with small frothy white head. Sweet fruity aroma with some spice and orange peel. Sweet flavor of orange peel and light spice.

750 cork and wire. Cork No. 144302. Color is more yellow than golden, small head. Looks macro-ish. Aroma is present - wheaty fishy smell with light candi sweetness. Taste is similar. As a friend pointed out this was more like a Leffe Blond than a tripel.

Bottle. Pale straw color with a big white head. Some orange aroma with spice and wheat. Crisp wheat flavor with spice and orange. Dry finish. Nice balance.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy amber with a huge, bubbly, noisy, dissipating off-white head. Sweet caramel nose. Medium body with an extreme carbonation. A slight oxidisation adds some somewhat vinous notes. Also accents of caramel and overripe fruit. 200706

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, fully golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly oxidised, malty aroma. Medium body, sweetish malty with lightly caramelish notes, while I’m not sure what the added sorghum really adds to the beer - if anything at all. Deep brown color. Sweet malty nose with oranges, strawberries, but not much chocolate flavors. Sweet chocolately mouth with hints of cookies, sugar candy, but a bit rough and not well balanced. Full bodied. Sweet finish.

A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with main notes of caramel, but also a distinct spicyness. The flavor is of sweet caramel and way too carbonated - the mouthfeel is like drinking a sodapop, and the body is thin.
