Description
Brasserie du Bocq was set up in 1858 by Martin Belot. The Brewery was incorporated into a limited company in 1949. Independent of any Belgian or foreign brewer, it still beholds its own family nature. Located in the heart of the Condroz, wonderful tourist region, this dynamic company still uses the traditional manufacturing process of top-fermentation beers with secondary fermentation in the bottle.
In 1983, Brasserie du Bocq abandons the exploitation of Central Brasserie Marbaix -La-Tour, to bring all the beer production back to Purnode where the production tools have been radically modernized on the basis of equity. Today in Purnode, although the Belot family has sold its assets to the Keersmaekers family who has been producing the Corsendonk at the Brasserie du Bocq for over 30 years, and even though the brewery has far exceeded its regional framework, nothing has changed and the values of the company remain intact.

Bottled. Very dark ruby, minimal head. Roasty coffee aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel and medium body. Lightly salty. Once it warms ash and fruits are revealed, but it doeasn’t really cover the somewhat sharp and metallic finish.

(bottle) Dark and reddish amber colour with a foamy tanned medium head with slow lace. Sweet malty aroma with orange rind, dried fruits, coriander and liquorice. Sweet and spicy flavour, medium to full bodied, well carbonated. Initially sweet malty, slightly sugary taste, dense fruitiness of dried fruits, obvious alcohol, dry and spicy (coriander, cinnamon) finish with a light bitterness.

(bottle) Hazy pale golden coloured hue with yeast floaties and a mid sized white foamy head. Dusty and moderately sweet wheat-malty nose with a dense citrus note. Light sweet malty taste with light citrus notes, medium bodied, crispy mouthfeel; dry and fruity finish blended with a touch of hoppy bitterness. Decent.

330ml bottle from Sainsbury. Cloudy pale gold with creamy white head.. Blanche wheat beer and apple aroma. Too sweet in mouth. Apple is not integrated and wanders around as if lost. The rest is a standard wheat beer. Would be very refreshing on a hot summers day, but on a wet February afternoon it is sickly sweet apple on the end that dominates

Dark reddish brown ale with a thick big bubbled light moka head. Pleasant fruity esters in aroma, with light coriander, sweet oranges, and light alcohol. In mouth, a sweet funky malt, with orange peels duly notes, alcohol, light hops, a bit cardboardy. Medium bodied. Bieropholie, Feb. 2006.

Bottled. Dark ruby red colour, big beige head, lacing. Aroma of sweet raisins and hints of malt. Flavour raisins, malt, caramel, hops and with some hints of roast. Very sweet, which made it kind of slow to drink.

Dark brown colour. Fairly malty aroma with light chocolate and indistinct dark fruit. Sweet character with alcohol, raisin bread, plum and brown sugar notes. Fairly low on yeast character for the style, and this makes it seem a bit simple, but the malt flavours are good enough to hold my interest.
