Description
After years of talking about it as a family, the decision is taken in 2015/16 to make brewing the new family business. The family travel to various brewery manufactures and finally place an order for the system that is now in place in Kilcoole.Equipment starts arriving and the brewery is built and commissioned. Late 2017, test beers are put out at the Irish craft beer festival at the RDS. In 2018 Larkin’s formally launches into the market at the Alltech beer festival in March. Larkin’s is now distributed in pubs across Ireland as well as exporting to other markets in the EU.

Can from Just In Beer, Groningen. Aroma is peppery saison yeast with notes of melon, grass, lightly bubblegum hop, bit spicy, light pale malt, hay, hint of citrus. Panda thanks to Cloin. Clear deep amber brown beer, decent bubbly tan head. Very light and slightly thin palate for the style. It's semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Thinnish dark malts, a reasonable dark malt creamy sweetness, some mild chocolate. The barrelling is everything to this brew. Tastes like a fruity Irish whiskey but who knows. A whiskey malty sweetness on the back end along with mild boozy spice. Something tells me this should be a candidate for the clunker category but it charms and seduces in ways I'm not even sure about. All I can say is a like it despite myself!
