Black waxed bottle pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin dark tan head. The modest aroma offers up soft chocolate, coffee and boozy whiskey. The taste delivers a smooth rich chocolate goodness, more chocolate dark roasted malts and then smooth soft wood and whiskey like booze. A few more sips and the chocolate and dark roasted coffee notes pick up an earthy quality. Into the finish the roastiness takes on a bit of a burnt to charred aspect. Wow. Roasty goodness. Big big roastiness.

Big thanks, again, to JPDurden24 for scoring me this 32oz crowler out of the blue! Awesome. The big can pours out with a clear deep gold body that supports a near white head. The aroma offers up herbal, sweet stone fruit hoppiness, floral hops and then a few pulls later it gets into pineapple, biscuit malts and pine hops. The taste has a long firm blast of pine hops thickened by malts, breadiness and a biscuit sensation. To midway thin streams of pineapple juice slip in there to help balance out the malts and bitter pine hops. Into the finish is seems slivers of mango and apricot are noticed. Pretty full flavored fully hopped IIPA.

32oz crowler pours with a clear deep gold body that has copper hues and supports a thin near white head. The aroma offers up spicy dank hops, resiny pine hops, green herbal hop notes and then a lime like sensation. The taste delivers growing spicy resiny danky onion hops, resiny pine sap and then a modest malty sweetness. To midway it picks up herbal green hoppiness that blends right in with the spicy earthy hops and shards of resiny pine notes. Solid.

32oz growler pours with a near clear deep gold body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up spicy herbal like hops, malts, a bit of a biscuit like maltiness and then some pine like hops into the end of the draw. The taste delivers bitter spicy hops and herbal hoppiness and just a modest degree of floral hops initially and then it gets into more grassy resiny almost piney like bitter hops. Supporting the hops is a smooth somewhat sweet malt base. Not my favorite hop profile but this is executed pretty well and I’d certainly drink it again.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear gold body that supports a light tan head. The aroma offers up spicy hops, floral hops and then thin sweet bready to cracker maltiness. The taste delivers bitter spicy hops, floral hops and then some thin sweet bready like malts, sweet pilsner like malts and then more spicy to floral hops into the finish. Overall this has great hop bitterness and crispness but the malts are still too sweet and heavy and prevent this from reaching its Kolsch potential.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a hazy copper body that supports a tan head. The mild aroma offers up smooth sweet malts, an apple sweet note, spicy yeast and then a faint honey sensation. The taste delivers smooth sweet malts, smooth apple sweetness, a modest level of spices, a thin semi sweet honey note, a biscuit maltiness and then a cracker malt sensation toward midway. It picks up a thin yeasty tartness from time to time as it warms a bit. It little drier would be nice.

On tap at Wren House Brewing, pours a hazy copper orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, biscuity malt and some light diacetyl. Flavour is less infected, with lots of citrus and piney hops upfront, followed by biscuity malt. Robust and well-balanced. Very good.

On tap at Wren House Brewing, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out oats and almost no notice of the coffee. Flavour brings out a lot more coffee upfront, followed by dry oats and some chocolate. Full-bodied and well-balanced and constructed. Good.

On tap at Wren House Brewing, pours a hazy copper with an small white head. Aroma brings out medium subdued ginger upfront, followed by biscuity malt. Flavour is very ginger-dominated, tasting more like a pure ginger ale than anything. No sweetness, just lots of fresh spicy finger. Nice for what it is.

On tap at Wren House Brewing, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out cereal malts upfront, along with crackery notes. Flavour is very dry, with crisp crackery malt and light cereal malt. Pretty authentic for the style. Unexciting but well-made.
