In May 2020 a merger of Het Nest and Pirlot took place, but both breweries keep on operating independent from each other.

Goudgeel bier met mooie stevige schuimkraag. Smaak is bitterzoet en krachtig met iets van koriander, graan en wat citrus.

Bottle from Geers. Clear dark golden, small, off-white head. Aroma of ripe grape, plum, apple peel, oak, winegums, white wine, cake. Taste has sweet plum & apple clashing a bit with bitter grape skin and some phenolic notes against a (fruit) cake-like and somewhat candy-like (winegums) malt backbone. Herbal hoppy finish offering dry grape skin, oak and slightly harsh white wine alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Actually less enjoyable than the straightforward sweet BAs by this brewery; the Loupiac was probably intended to execute balance but the flavours tend to clash here.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with stable beige head. Clear aroma of caramel, coffee, dried fruit, malt and yeast. Bitter, roasty and hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of fruit, chocolate and malt. Estery aftertaste with bitter notes of alcohol and touches of malt and yeast. Decent.

Bottle, 10%. Roasted aroma, bitter chocolate. Almost black colour, red shine, seems clear. Good stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is roasted and semi-sweet. There is a spicy hop note. Late liquorice and coffee notes. Alcohol bitterness. I like the spicy hop and the base beer, but the alcohol bitterness puts me off a bit.
