Black, with a malty, vinuous nose. It is very dry, roasty and hoppy, with a big alcohol kick, some very burnt raisin flavours. The body is full and firm, and the finish is long and assertively dry.

I previously rated this beer on Jan 2, 2001, so maybe it's high time I revisit. My original review is preserved below, laughably bad (unless the beer has changed since then, anyway, but I figure that is unlikely.). I compared it to Guinness, and the beer I just drank is literally nothing like Guinness lol. The score was 4.3 and I'm coming down but not by a huge amount, it's still an enjoyable and unique beer but not 4.3 worthy.

New rating: Dark brown pour, modest head. Aroma hints at dark fruits, raisin and fig, plus molasses. The flavor is almost straight blackstrap molasses, except for those same dark fruits skirting the edges. Semi-sweet to sweet, with a light balancing bitterness at finish but very little in the way of aroma or flavor hops - so malt forward.

Original rating: A unique kind of porter, very strong and stout-like, with dry roasted flavors not unlike Guinness.
