Draft at Pivovara Razum, Samobor, Croatia Wednesday 10th September 2025 after a 3hr 45mins drive from Brodarica nr Šibenik, weather was initially cloudy and drizzle today, but then shocking weather, absolutely battering it down with rain, however stopped now and improving though still cloudy. Pours hazy gold, white head. Once again Loz chooses the better of the beers but it is still not quite right, aroma a little bit too sweet, not completely falling into the witbier on first sniff, like the Vilenak this just seems to miss the mark consistently. Not my thing.

Pours gold, reasonable clarity, white head. I'm not sure quite how to describe this, it's just strange, okay looks good, mouthfeel good, do two positive ticks but taste, all I can say is that it's unusual, really unusual, I sort of get there's a solid maltiness, okay a bit grainy but overwhelmingly I get BBQ sauce which is completely bonkers. Not my thing.

On tap at Razum Samobor. Unclear pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, wheaty and light yeasty nose. Same in the taste; wheaty, light yeasty and mild spicy with discreet touch of coriander. Sweetish finish.

On tap at Razum Samobor. Amberish coloured, medium sized off-white head, malty and light herbal nose. Malty, bready, herbal and touch of caramel with bitterish finish. More body wouldn't hurt.

Jan. ’16. On tap at the brewpub. It poured a very dark brown, almost black body with medium sized latte head. Again herbal hop aroma. A bit sour unpasteurized in, too, with roasted malt base. Lightly bitter flavor, both hoppy and roasted. The latter consisted of pleasant coffee and cocoa, elegant, especially pronounced in the finish which was even lightly sweet with dark chocolate/cocoa notes. Lightly bitter in the finish, too, with herbal hops. Medium bodied. By far the best of the three, especially since this one wasn’t flawed (metal). A nice schwarz.

Jan. ’16. On tap at the brewpub. It poured hazy copper-amber body with medium sized ivory head. Some caramel malt, but predominately herbal hop aroma, the same as in their helles. Lightly bitter flavor, also lightly metallic, herbal hops with grainy, bready, caramel malt. Thin to medium body although quite fuller than the pale one. Long herbal hop finish with light bread and caramel. 7.3% ABV? Perfectly hidden if correct, I was sure it was just about the other two. Although brewed independently to them as I could understand, this turned out like the typical regional "rezano" - blond and dark mixed, with the characteristics of both. Also, more similar to style of Bohemian Polotmavy than a German Vienna, but reading the other ratings some batches seemed to be much less hoppy, so I guess both is fine. Okay, anyway.

Jan. ’16. On tap at the brewpub. I figured out I’ll never have it if I don’t go there myself, since I’m not that often in the northern parts of the country. Anyway, this was hazy golden colored, with a light orange hue and a medium sized head atop. Light, fresh herbal hoppy and light malt aroma. Flavor was lightly bitter, only a bit metallic but that didn’t bother too much. Simple, just some bready malt besides. Thin to medium in body with moderately long herbal dry finish. Average brewpub helles.
