Description
Behind Bendorf hides the name of a microbrewery. A microbrewery, or an urban craft beer factory, located in the Neudorf district, in the heart of Strasbourg! Founded at the beginning of 2013 by Benjamin Pastwa, the Bendorf brewery has continued to grow and this is how four people today ensure the proper functioning of the young company: Soizic, Félix, Matthieu and Benjamin . The goal of a brewery is of course to create, brew and then offer high quality beers with strong aromatic power for tasting. Our beers are generously hopped. At Bendorf, we love hops and we love working with it in all its forms.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, some coffee, liquorice, chocolate sauce, light vanilla overtones. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty, slightly chocolately, minimally sweet caramel malty, notes of roast, a touch of ashes, coffee, dark chocolate, a touch of malt lozenge, burnt caramel, minimally metallic, bitter hoppy overtones, a touch of soy sauce. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, minimally prickly carbonation. Quite bitter and roasty, no hints of cloying sweetness, thereby sporting a make-believe lightness and high drinkability. Good.

On tap at L'Atalante, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out medium roasted malt and earthy, piney hops. Flavour is bold and robust, with earthy hops, pine, and biscuity malt. Balanced really well, with good oomph. Excellent.

Bottle at home. Bit of a gusher. Hazy pale golden with huge fluffy white head. Indeed some cucumber, aromatic pepper in an almost Szechuan way, flowery, nutmeg, pink peppercorns. Some light pils malts and a bit of a grassy finish. Under medium sweet and bitter. Over light bodied with a lot of carbonation. Well, it does as advertised though maybe a bit too much so.

330ml bottle from Chope'n Shop Hazebrouck, drunk at home watching Children of the Korn. Pours a deep hazed brown, small off-white head. Aroma of dark malt, amber malt, toffee, oak. Rich, oaky old ale character, caramel shades, some nutty moments. No honey notes unfortunately, quite heavy going malt body. Seemed promising but unfortunately falls short of average.
