Description
Notes for members:-

Celt Experience and Fire Island beers should be added under those entries.

The Archers entry is for Archers beers brewed on that site up until 2009. Any beers continued to be brewed under the Archers name appear under Evan Evans brewery with an Archers prefix.

The same applies to J Buckley beers (ceased brewing in 1998), who were taken over initially by Brains, then the brand sold on to Evan Evans.

As locations go, we’re incredibly lucky. Based here in Llandeilo in West Wales, we can open the brewery doors wide and look out over the breathtaking Black Mountains. We’re as passionate about the surroundings we brew in as we are about the brewery itself. Whilst our 250-year history of brewing is at our core, we believe strongly in innovation. Evan Evans is a modern, state-of-the-art brewing plant, capable of producing around 3 million pints every year using the finest raw materials and the attention to detail that makes us who we are.

Cask at Briar Rose, Birmingham. On the good side it looked great once settled - clear amber, creamy white head, great lacing. Nice smooth mouthfeel as well. Unfortunately it tastes a bit like cardboard; some bread and light floral hop if being generous. Normally when I'm out having a few beers I start with cask and then move to craft. I did it the other way around this time so possibly a schoolboy error.

Cask at London & North Western, Birmingham. Clear amber, smooth white head, great lacing. Taste is bitter, malty and grainy with some earthiness and hint of a sweeter stone fruit. Medium bodied, dry. OK.

Cask in the Playhouse Spoons, Colchester. Near clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Smooth airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Fluffy malts, a pleasant light creamy sweetness with a nice caramel streak. The quartet of hops bring a nice juicy ripe citrus with soft ripe lemon and lime and a whole bunch of complex but light flavours that are hard to pick apart. Light finish. Very nice, good malt base and a great hop delivery. Wish I could have had a pint of this.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] An amber pour with a thick cream coloured head; malty aroma with a touch of straw; sweet biscuity malt taste with a light hedgerow bitterness; then an earthy malt finish.

Cask at Baxter's Court (JDW), Hackney before going on to see the superb Skating Polly at Oslo. Amber with an off-white head. Orangey caramel with a touch of twig. Sweet malts with mild bitterness. It's hardly what the name makes you think of (it's a big standard bitter), but it's fine. Easy drinking.
