Keg @ Hanly's, Strokestown [060518]
Blonde, light haze, frothy white head
Aroma of citrus zest, some citrus fruits, getting sweet pale caramel toffee, herbal notes
Taste of citrus zest, aggressive bitter citrus hops, sweet pale caramel malt, bitter herbal nores, getting hint of butterscoth, over stuffed, just doesn't taste good
Palate - Medium carb ond body, very bitter (no way this is 40 IBUs), sweet pale malt, unbalanced. Finish has an aggressive bitter linger
Overall - Too stuffed, far too bitter, bit of a struggle to drink

From the bottle. Dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Aroma is toffee, roasted grains, rubber. Taste is bitter, full of roasted flavors, grains, nuts, caramel malt. Medium body. Far less floral/fruity than a typical bipa, this veers more in the direction of a traditional stout. Not bad in and of itself, but not what I expected.

From the bottle. Reddish with a frothy, off white head. Aroma is tea, rather herbal. Taste is bittersweet, a touch tangy, with a mildly bitter herbal finish. Body is light to medium. Interesting.

On tap at De Prael. Murky golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of grapefruit, oranges, very fresh and hoppy. Flavour is dank, grapefruit, citrus, oranges, marmalade, light malty, hint of pine, bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, feels al lot heavier than 4.2%. Good, surprised by the low ratings so far.
