Can from Cap Tap. Pours clear, bright gold with a foamy white head. Aroma brings horse blanket/dank to mind. But it's really just a lot of hops? Orange/melon? Med body plus quite a bit. Flavor is heading to juicy/dank. Not sure it gets there. Lots of hop. Orange seems present. Still going with melon. Burn in the back of the palate. But not in the gullet, so hop burn. Barring some tropical indications this is old school IPA. But given the tropicals, I guess it's new school. IPA it most certainly is.

Waxed bomber from Corti Bros. Pours dark, clear, ruddy brown with a frothy tan head. MIxed bourbon/rum aromas over fairly dark treacle. A little fruity. Near full bodied. Flavor is treacle with a bit of chocolate, non-musty oak aspects, very dark treacle, dark fruits; rum seems dominate over bourbon. Not sticky, but definitely not dry. Heat I can't find for sure. Rum. Could use more, but good.

Bomber from Tavour. Dark brown pour, thin, patchy head. Aroma is woody, nutty, prunes, raisins. Taste is all of that with some nice boozy warmth. Minor sweetness. Full.

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Pours hazy and golden orange with small white head that retains. Great patterns down the glass. Moderate tropics and a bit of pine in the back. Moderate bitterness. Alcohol is hidden.

Can from Cap Tap. Pours very dark brn/blk with a fairly dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate, raspberries, coffee and vanilla. Malt is well hidden. :) Full bodied. Main flavors are raspberries, chocolate and coffee. Arguably there's treacly malt. Don't know if this is pastry, but it tastes like it's just as full of calories as pastry. Drier than expected. Berry bitter (a pun and a truth). Tastes very good. Heat is hardly discernible. Great ale.

Can from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light bright gold with a decent head. Aroma is bready and seems a bit lemony. Near med body. Flavor is bready, seems to have a very little lemon, and then gets quite bready. Not too bad for lo-cal. Bottom line: Little flavor; few points.

Tap at Cap Hop. Pours very dark brn/blk with a foamy, but not huge, beige/tan head. Aroma of toasted coconut and chocolate. Med body or nearly. Flavor is earthy chocolate with toasted coconut. Dry. Earthy chocolate bitter. Good drink. Revising - with time the beer improved. Rofl.

Super malty, not very hoppy, more like a sweet ale

Very clear coloured light amber and copper body with a nice two centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of honey, strong grassy and citrus-based hops with a lot of herbal notes and a good balance of malt all behind the hops and sweet scents. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal hop flavours at first that show a lot bitterness from pineapple and resinous hops that shows a lot of fruit-based sugars, all sitting on top of a strong malt backbone that support the bitterness and sweetness. Aftertaste has the bitterness up front with a pungent grassy and very herbal finish and a good hop profile with the pineapple, resin and grapefruit right behind. Overall, a nice and pungent Imperial IPA that shows very well and leaves a lot of bitterness throguhout, but is balanced nicely by the malts and especially the fruit-based sugars on the end. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo in Vacaville, California on 10-March-2019 for US$7,99 sampled a day later in my hotel room here in Fairfield, California on 11-March-2019.

Bière 65 cl achetée chez Rainbow Grocery à San Francisco. Robe orange clair.
