Thanks Raul. Aroma is fruity, sour. Taste has some coffee, lots of sweetness, toffee, sticky, Apple. Interesting, but not sure.

Bottle. Somehow weird aroma of pear and sweetness. Bit funky, decent fruity pear taste, something a little milky. Surprisingly alright.

Bottle from Hanadaya. Very dark brown/black colour with small golden head. Aroma is a bit Belgian, some sourness, lots of dark fruits, slightly roasty and some syrupy sweetness too. A real mixed bag. Taste is similarly mixed, initial sourness fading into something like a really sweet belgian dubbel. Quite fruity. Maybe a touch thin, but I actually quite like it for it strangeness. The sweet and sour thing is strangely alluring.

330 ml can at Kinyoubi Izakaya, Collingwood. Sweet grain nose. Golden amber beer with a thin white head. Slight effervescence, starts a little sour then finishes with full on caramel! Wildly sweet finish, really surprising. Late lingering sourness balances some of the sweetness. Not unpleasant but I don't want another.

33cl can on AN ANA flight. Pours unattractive brown, fairly hazy, with low foam. Aroma is malty and caramel. Body is fairly average with moderate carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet, very low bitterness. Finish is average.

I got this at the local Fukui goods shop by Fukui Station, I'm kind of bummed to discover it is contract brewed in Niigata (I thought the cap looked familiar!) for a liquor store in Tsuruga, Fukui.
Muddy orange brown in color with a thin light beige/dirty off white fizzy head of foam that quickly vanished. the aroma is very yeasty with some tangy mikan (mandarin oranges) as well. Fairly full bodied, grainy and sweet it is a honeyed biscuit with a mikan marmalade on top. Alright but it seems underattenuated.

Can, bb 8/18. Murky amber, no head. 2- Aroma of butterscotch, pears, dried banana. Taste is a little better - pears, caramel, a little spice. Some bitterness. Aftertaste of dried banana. Something's gone wrong here.

310cl bottle at Tokuzo, Nagoya. Dark golden color, cloudy, light malt aroma with lots of yeast, mild grainy and strong hops background. A bit too yeasty maybe, had 2 or 3 after several sapporos, then switched to shochu so night went crazy and details git lost. But was a nice beer.

Bottle shared. Thanks Raul! Jet black with no head. Sour blackberry nose with big roasted malt aromas. More sourness on the palate with some very high percentage cacao 80 percent or higher. Wine-like somehow, but not in a good way. Like old wine that has been oxidized. More roasted malt on the finish. Needs some work. --- Beer merged from original tick of Niigata Espresso Beer on 09 Oct 2016 at 19:58 - Score: 6. Original review text: It's ok
