Deep golden. Thin head. Has a fair bit of bitterness and a touch of hop fruitiness but not much aromatic. Good but more brightness on the nose would help a lot.

Pale blonde with a thin head. Aroma shows just a light estery note, but is otherwise understated. Light body, crisp bitterness, sweet pale malts and the faintest esters. Actually nothing like a Belgian tafelbier but a pretty good, quaffing true session brew. I like it, for what it is.

Draught, Darby’s Gastown. Just a touch of haze. Nice head. Vaguely citrusy hop and a touch of coriander. Mellow bitterness from hops but the spice is harsh. To me, that’s stale spice, where the aromatic oils are gone but the harsh bitterness remains.

Can - Earthy and dark malts. Jet brown with a decen beige head. Earthy and light toasted malts with a light finish. Odd, but I do get the earthy mushroom notes. No bitterness to speak off.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy blond color, no signs of head. Mild aroma of hops and medicinal herbs. Dry mouthfeel, not weak; light pale malts in the background, dominated by strong pithy bitterness, and a hint of cloves in the final that could be from the yeast. I sense some vegetables too in the final.
Unbalanced and rough; not very pleasant.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma is quite heavy on the hoppy bitterness, with a heavy herbal and earthy quality, and underlying Belgian yeast. Flavour is extremely bitter, with lots of bitter floral, herbal and earthy hops, with subdued Belgian yeast. The bitternsss isn't pleasant and the actual hop flavour is pretty flat and earthy. Unbalanced and abrasive. Not good.

473ml can. Pours an unclear dark brown with reddish hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, light brown head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and lactose with some coffee bitterness in the finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

Dark color, near black. It’s dry and it’s bready, dark dry caramel flavor, mild; the mushroom is very mild, I can see that, with a light earthy and mineral presence in the final, but wouldn’t have thought of it.
Ok beer, but please don’t make it become a thing.

On tap at Hearthstone, pours a deep dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is very restrained, with notes of mushrooms and light earth. Flavour is fairly restrained as well, with fungal notes, light earth and toasted malt. Fungal and earthy but very mild. Meh.

16 oz can poured. Much thanks to Matt for sharing the can. Pours a lighter golden color with patchy fizz head. Slight apple grain aroma with a subtle sweetness. Flavor is dry, with a moderate bitterness. Slightly creamy, but overall lacks in depth and consistent flavor. Not bad, but not interesting for a fresh hop IPA.
