About
The company was founded by Alastair Hook in 1999. He started the brewery in a small lock-up on an industrial estate, before moving to the Greenwich Brewery, and then to a site on nearby Blackwall Lane in 2010. It was purchased by SABMiller in May 2015. As part of the agreements made with regulators before Anheuser-Busch InBev was allowed to acquire SABMiller in 2016, Meantime was sold to Asahi Breweries of Japan in October 2016. Brewing moved to Fuller's in May 2024.

330ml design bottle bought at the St Albans BF 06. The pour reveals a body with a rosy brown colour and a medium white head. Fresh smell of tart berries. Flavour is dominated by sharp tartness and a foamy mouthfeel. Dry ending. A fruit beer with intense carbonation and a thin to moderate palate. Does not fit the winter season, may be better in the summertime. (06.01.2007).

Bottled. Dark, reddish beer with aroma of coffee and chocolate. The flavor is way too coffee-ish for my taste, one should probably have some food to go with it. Medium mouthfeel. Intensely coffee-ish finish. (061124)

Big offwhite head. Deep orange body full of small yeast particles. Subtle, sweetish light peppery metal hop aroma with spice notes with notes of pine needles and stale hops. Sourish intense bitter taste of resin, pine needles, and citrus with dry, citric finish. Faintly medicinal tinge. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Excellent, if challenging. (0.75l bottle.)

Bottle 0,33l. Golden coloured with a touch of red. A rapidly growing head that settles in a minute or two. Faint aroma of fruit. Hard to find raspberry in particular. The carbonation kills most of the flavour, but you can spot some raspberry. A sweet/sourish aftertaste. A lot of sediments in the bottle making the last pour unclear.

Bottle 0,33l. Almost black with a mocca coloured head. Strong aroma of - coffee. Taste of coffee. Dry bitter aftertaste making you think that you have just drunk a cup of cold coffee. Too unvaried to become a good beer.
