Bottled. Dark nut brown. Papery raisin aroma. Dry, a bit thin with short, rounded mouthfeel. Some berries and cinnamon, otherwise not much. Very drinkable for it’s size however.

This Apiaceous beverage is crafted for fans of those little, dark, red-wrappered hard candies. Unfortunately, I’m no connoisseur of anise in any incarnation. This beer is spice-dominated. I was quite taken by the aroma at first- of the perfumey, flowery, sweet-scented variety- but I was surprised by the overtly spicy, dry flavor. Anise (and even a hint of caraway) and other spices dominate this beer, and there is just a hint of sweetness, which is of the flowery/herbal variety rather than the fruit variety. The Belgian variety of Anchor Our Special Ale. At least the body was decent, and the beer’s cloudy orange-brown-red body and nice creamy tan head at least hinted at excellence. Alas, I instead found myself in the parsley fields again.

The aroma is very spicy with a very suprising note of peppermint, but also coriander and blooming flowers on a spring day. The color is dark golden with slight yeast sediments floating around and a beutiful but collapsing white head. The flavor is very sweet - too sweet for my liking - with notes of spices and flowers to start off with but then turning into a strong honey taste towards the end. The very last impression of the aftertaste is still honey - in the shape of the sticky feel in Your mouth, that honey gives. It is the honey that makes this beer too sweet for me - I'd have liked it better if more of the sugar from the honey had been fermented.

A hazy dark red beer with a fine off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of nutmeg and cloves - a really lovely aroma. The flavor is sweet with notes of nutmeg, cloves, yeast, oranges, wood, roasted bread, caramel and corriander. A great flavor that is rounded off by a light bitterness. The palate is good - and it warms very nicely.

The aroma is sweet with strong notes of yeast, flowers, apples, and aroma hops. The color is dark amber and it has a fine cream colored head, though disappearing. The flavor is very nicely sweet with notes of yeast, malt, flowers, fruit, oranges, and forest. The end is a very well balanced bitterness that lingers.

Clear amber body. Off-white fizzy head, virtually not lacing and mostly lasting. Sweet hoppy aroma. Moderately bitter, moderately acidic initial flavour. Lightly bitter, lightly acidic (long) finish. Lively mouthfeel.

Presentation: 1pt, 9.4 fl oz corked bottle; paid $5.99 for it. Appearance: hazy brown with some mahogany highlights, not much of a head. As soon as that cork came out, the aroma was everywhere. Sweet fruit and floral scents. Not quite wine scented, but headed in that direction. The taste is surprisingly thin. I would not guess that there's 8.2% abv here; it's VERY VERY well hidden, so it gets .5 point bump up for doing that so well...It's got a slight fruity/floral taste, but almost lacks a defined taste. Has a slightly sweet aftertaste. I would have liked a little more flavor. It's a very drinkable beer, but a bit on the plain side, unfortunately. Mouthfeel reminds me of alka-seltzer. Not exactly what I like, but at least it's not flat. Edited to add: towards the end here, it reminds me a bit of egg nog...

Bottled. Cloudy orange, small head. Vinegary, flowery nose. Mild and soft with a hint of vanilla. Lemony acidity in the finish. Unusual and interesting.

The aroma is very yeasty and fruity with notes of apples and cloves. The color is an unclear brown with a beutiful light brown head. The flavor is very complex; notes of coffee, cloves, plums, cinnamon, and yeast. A great flavor - if You like your beer to taste of something.
