Had this at Augustiner Braugasthof Krimpelstätter, Salzburg Tuesday 16th December 2025. Difficult to determine the colour as it's served in a krug, however I suspect that it's dark brown with an off white head. Quite a bit of chocolate and caramel initiall, particularly chocolate, soft mouthfeel, great carbonation, spot on in fact. Really like this, it's a very decent Bock.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours golden with a slight haze and a smallish, lacing white head. Bready, malty nose. Medium body, soft on the palate,initial sweet, grainy malts neatly balanced by sufficient hops. Well crafted. 121025

Cask Huge, overflowing yellow head (despite being cask, their dispense is messy, and since top-ups are to be tipped, CAMRA would be besides themselves); beer not visible since only tapped in Steine . Nose a bit as from dark honey, bit lightly coloured malts, geen leaves. Sweet malts, finish being lighter, sporting even a light bitterness in the end. Bit of CO² sourishness, whilst warming up, a bit grapejuice flavour appears. Quite slick, but nowhere thick. Well carbonated despite the cask dispense. Though quite OK, the beer misses hops. I find it a bit lame seen the expectations this place exhales. I suspect the Austrian monks are a tad more commercial oriented than their Belgian trappist brethren.

Nose is pale and bready malts, grains, herb, straw.
Taste comprises pale malts, hint of caramel, floral whisper, breads, straw.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur. BB 03.05.2025. copper clear color, small white head. smells earthy, spices, toffee, tobacco. nice smell. medium body, soft carbonation. tastes toffee, tobacco, spices, lightly herbal, light chestnuts, bit peppery. finishes lightly bitter with notes of tobacco, toffee and chestnuts. good one, not the most complex, but good to drink -> actually, the warmer this gets the more complex it gets.

Bottle 18/03/2014. Crystal clear golden body, with a big, frothy, white head, that leaves a nice lacing. Aroma of grains, bread, earth, grass, some honey. Taste with the same aromas, but pretty watery. Mouthfeel is light, with a low carbonation and it finishes light, with grains and herbs. Well, it starts promising with a great appearance and a nice grainy aroma in the nose, but the taste and the mouthfeel are much too light. Easy to drink, but nothing special at all.

Very quaffable! Much better than what I remember from bottle. A bit lighter bodied, but very aromatic, with a lovely rustic character. Drinks extremely easy and balanced!

Bottle shared at home, courtesy of Beerhunter111, thanks a lot! Pours semi clear golden with a quickly dissipating head. Nose and taste are hay, honey, bready malts, light herbal touches to it. Nicely balanced, easy to drink yet full of flavours. Tasty.

Tap @ Augustinerbräu Kloster Mülln, Salzburg. Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, hay and light hoppy - straw. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. Very soft. 160724
