Medium brown. The aroma is a touch tarry, smoky. Light body, Similar tarry character. Finishes light and quick. Ok, some good character, but light.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is highly smoky, with tons of char and campfire. Flavour brings out tons of smoke upfront, like the smoke produced when BBQ'ing hot dogs. Dry, smoky and very simple. Weak stuff. Inoffensive, but no good.

Slight haze, golden, aroma is a bit sewagey. Slightly fruity, dry, and a bit more of that sewagey element.

Aroma is a bit like vegetable poop...but not as bad as that sounds. Still odd, though. Toasty. Sweet malts, has a mellow hop character and bitterness. Ok.

On tap at Sake Sakamotoya. It pours a clear deep gold, 1cm filmy head that lasts a long time & clings to the glass. Fresh cut hay/grass aroma speaks of spring & summer. The taste is light, green, grassy, bitter with some puckering but clean & crisp. Not really my cup of tea but a solid pils.

6% a clear amber pour with a beige head. A mild malty caramel aroma. The taste is nutty, bitter toffee. A touch rough with a medium body & light carbonation. This beer is supposedly designed to pair with crab. I guess it does, with the crab it is much zestier & very crisp while the carbonation acts like a palate cleanser. On it's own it is so so but with crab it's pretty good. Boost the score up to 3.5-3.6 when paired with seafood. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

450 yen Bottle, burnt coffee, licorice, umami, grape & chocolate in the aroma. The taste is good, chocolate with some roast coffee notes. The body is a bit thin & I feel it is somewhat rough around the edges. Overall though, a nice enough stout, it pairs nicely with vanilla ice cream. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at a liquor shop on the main drag, 300 yen for a small & 500 for a large. It pours a clear deep gold with a fluffy white head that quickly dissipates, the aroma is one of bananas & cloves. A classic though mild nose. The taste was spicy with cloves then hints of banana. Very light & refreshing. A solid light hefeweizen with just the appearance not being to style. ---bottle at home--- served in a weizen glass the beer is a clear gold not too weizen like with a fluffy white head. In this instance the aroma is much more pronounced banana, spice-cloves, a touch of bubblegum. The taste is subtle sweet spices, hints of banana. A pretty good weizen that goes from average to good when served in the appropriate glassware. My biggest issue with it is the appearance not fitting the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
