650mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out the German hops in full form, with some citrus and stone fruitiness. Flavour is along the same lines, with fruity hops and biscuity malt. Not overly exciting, but it's clean and decently brewed. Okay.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy light amber. Aroma has some barrelly notes, it has picked up some tartness, touch of wheaty, banana accent, too. Light tartness, hint of smoke and banana and a bit of barrely dryness. Brett notes...so if Inperial Grodziskie makes any sense to you, that’s how I would describe it.

Hazy golden color. The malt gives a delicate biscuity aroma but the flavor is not interesting; the hop is lightly grassy in the nose, very lightly fruity flavor, but unassertive and dull; strong bitterness, a bit disturbing in the final. It takes time to develop interesting aromas of candied fruits.
I’m not impressed. But it’s not bad.

Cloudy dark amber color. Dark malts, not roasty, but caramelly and chocolatey, not blending very well with the mild sourness. Earthy feeling. Light fruity aroma. (6).
It’s not a train wreck, it’s just not a good idea. If they increase the acidity they can sell it under the Bruery label (would still be not good). Messy.
The second impression is better.

Hazy bright light amber color. Aroma and flavor carry nice notes of cereals and hay, quite German. Good body structure, nice bitterness level (feels more than 23 IBU), with some grassy note.
Somehow not very refined, but it has good qualities and it’s enjoyable; with some tweaks it may be great.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy light amber color with small frothy head, not persistent. Weird smell, soft cheese, wet socks, mushy banana, maybe bourbon. The mouthfeel is unexpectedly sour; there is some smoke flavor, but the body is too thin, and for 7.5% the booze feeling is too high; add to this also some vegetables, cabbage.
A real mess, very unpleasant.

650mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out the smokiness and JD barrels upfront -- doesn't smell like a hef. Flavour is unusual, with JD barrels, banana, medium smoke, and stale wheat. Why the hell would they barrel age a smoked hef, let alone in shitty JD barrels? An embarrassing testament to where the Vancouver beer scene still is. Really bad.

Draft at the brewery. Light brown colour. Mild aroma showing a touch of sourness. The flavour is a little sour, too, not a lot. The malts are fairly mellow, so the overall presentation is a tart, slightly dirty brown ale, as opposed to anything intensely soured or Belgian in nature.

Amber,beige head.Vague sweet nose. Palate has rye spiciness with light but noticeable hop bitterness in finish. Have had recent nasal surgery so tastebuds are a bit off... will retry at a later date
