We're Hackney Brewery — a small, independent craft brewery from London who has been dedicated to producing the most progressive accessible styles of hop forward independent craft beer to high standards.
We’re passionate about producing high-quality beers which are not only flavourful and aesthetically pleasing but also suitable for anyone who is interested in trying good quality craft beer. We've spent years refining and progressing our recipes to keep up with people’s ever-changing taste.
We were founded in 2011 by Peter Hills and Jon Swain in a couple of railway arches in Haggerston, Hackney.
Over the years we’ve invested in state-of-the-art lab equipment, new machinery and we strive to continuously improve our processes and work to get the best out of our ingredients.
Now with a focus on Keg and Can formats with modern and US hop forward styles, we provide a complete core range of crafted styles from Session-able table beers, hop forward pales and IPA’s, hazy juice bombs, a multi award winning peach and basil sour and crystal clear craft lager.
In 2021 we opened our new site on the Blackhorse Beer Mile, High Hill Taproom, home to Hackney Brewery.

No DMS/off-flavour aromas. Very griany and bready texture. Almost pepper notes from the hops. Lemon bon bons. A little citrus zest. Clean and crushable. Great entry lager.

Crowler at home, from BD Tower Hill, 20/11/20. Hazed orange with a decent egg shell white cap. Nose is orange zest, ripe melon, grapefruit, pine needle, grass. Taste comprises grapefruit, pine needle, weed, ripe melon, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with juicy come leafy hop bitterness. Decent IPA.

Can shared at Colin's pre lockdown 30k tasting. A dark brown coloured pour with a lively frothy mid tan head. Aroma is dark tangy choco, wood, cocoa, raisin, hint of coconut. Flavour is composed of earthy chocolate, woody, tannin, fruit and nut, hazelnut, light tang, some jammy fruits. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, woody bite in the finish, frothy carbonation.

Can split at the Tickombe 30K last tasting before lockdown 2, thanks to Fergus, 01/11/20. Black pour with a big old tan cap. Nose is bitter chocolate. Dark malts, mellow bourbon, dried fruits, light spice. Taste comprises milk chocolate, mellow bourbon, fruit cake, vanilla, toffee, light vinous trace. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Decent easy drinker.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours mostly clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Lightly sweet, nicely rounded, with soft piney character, some tangerine, a little orange rind, sun-kissed pale malts. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, some melon, more tangerine, pine, pale bread. Very drinkable beer.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, small dark tan head with a lifespan that would make a mayfly think it was Methesula. Soft palate has a definite viscosity, reasonable fine carbonation. This is a strong beer on the mouthfeel. That said there is no alcohol heat or spice here. Impressively lacking either in fact. What is not lacking is coffee, there is an intense coffee here, fruity and slightly savoury. Coffee liqueur in abundance, but lacking in the sweetness department. Smooth rich coffee finish. Very drinkable and a bit of a stealth bomb in terms of abv. Good stuff!

Keg at Waterloo Tap. Juicy stone fruit aroma. Hazy pale gold. Thin creamy translucent white head. Light sour stone fruit. A touch of bitterness. Some underlying fruit sugar. Medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Abrupt. I wouldn't choose to drink pineapple juice or similar so yeah....
