24/10/2024. Bottle from Lopia Kyoto Yodobashi Supermarket. Pours almost clear amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is buttery, malty, caramel, old hops, stewed fruits. Quite sweet, moderate bitterness and an odd tangy tartness. Moderate body, soft carbonation. Didn’t like this.

Tap in Fushimi. Deep gold to orange. Toasty malt nose, light hops. Crisp and toasty flavor, crackers, herbal noble hops. Ok.

Tango Kingdom Vacation Lager Deep gold with wispy off-white foam. A breast aroma on a medium bodied brew. Pretty crisp and clean. The taste is bready with some earthy herbal hops. It hit the spot but felt midway between a macro and craft lager.

Bottle from the brewery shop. Malty, biscuity nose, slightly buttery in the CZ style, with light lemony hops. Slightly hazy deep gold with a tall, thick head. Creamy malt, rich and biscuity. Bready and grainy. Peppery, slightly citrus hops. Quite Czech. Maybe a touch of diacetyl but not a problem. Nice, crisp, stark bitterness. Much better than I expected.

Tap at Zest, as Sunset Cruise IPA. AMber-orange, cleear. Malty caramel nose, light citrus. Sweet and malty, caramel / coffee, touch of diacetyl maybe. Light citrus and grassy finish. Ok. Old school and unrefined but decent.

330 ml bottle from an omiyage shop in Amanohashidate, northern part of Kyoto prefecture. Lightly cloudy darker orange or lighter copper, some quite persistent foam over there. Caramel nose, crisp and malty. Tastes also malty, light caramel and some light bitterness. Would have enjoyed some stronger hops there but even now it drinks OK, simple amber.

330 ml bottle from an omiyage shop in Amanohashidate, northern part of Kyoto prefecture. Pours darker orange, lightly cloudy (or dirty) look. Light malts in the nose, some fruity yeast esters. Tastes malty, caramel malts, fruity-grassy medium body, light easy-drinking beer. Light bitterness, just a hint of roast bitterness. Nothing special but OK.

Made with Cascade hops and an orange-brown in color with a thick creamy head. The aroma is lightly fruity and quite bready. The taste is bready, floral sweet caramel and butterscotch (mild diacetyl) plus some hops. English style IPA at best and not such a nice one but drinkable.

Tap at Craft Beer Live Osaka 2017. Worty nose, grain, caramel. Hazy orange color, flat. Sweet, estery, worty. Did they forget the yeast? Oily and slick and not a real lager.

Tap at GJBF Osaka 2016. Very nice, malty nose with good smoke. Amber-brown color, clear. Flavors of chocolate, caramel, nice malt, light to medium smoke. Clean, good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Smoke Beer on 24 May 2014 at 22:41 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Draught at Craft Beer Live 2014. Big bacon nose. Smoke itself it somewhat light but lots of bacon. A bit too sweet, with caramelized ham ro bacon, some moke and some chocolate. Solid stuff.
