Description
Black Isle was started by David Gladwin in 1998. An unemployed beer lover, he set out to make world-class beer using barley and hops, grown on organic farms, without the use of destructive chemicals. Black Isle Brewing Co is Scotland’s only organic brewery; pioneering craft beer from our beautiful, wild - and sometimes wet - Highland home. Organic is at the heart of everything we do - we believe in making great tasting beer using only natural ingredients, grown without the use of harmful chemicals. We care about seriously good beer, the environment and the future of our planet.

Can 33 cl. 7,0% ABV in my version. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a lacing, beige head. Toffee and burnt caramelized sugar in the nose. Rich malty body, again plenty of caramelized sugar and perhaps a faint hint of smoke. Subdued bitterness, but you sense the British hops there somewhere. 060524

On tap at the Black Isle bar, Inverness, Saturday 30th March 2024 after a fantastic few days on the Isle of Harris with Nick and Anna. Pours hazy yellow with a large white head. There is a strange little thing with this beer, on the one hand it's soft, a little juicy, nice spritzy bitterness and yet there is almost a light smokeyness it's a bit unusual.

On tap at the Black Isle bar, Inverness, Saturday 30th March 2024 after a fantastic few days on the Isle of Harris with Nick and Anna. Pours hazy yellow with a large white head. There seems to be a slight change with some hazy IPAs, they are now quite often less juicy and with a little bristle of bitterness, more spritzy carbonation and like this one, simple, very sessionable and with a pleasant citrus led fruitiness.

Gott

On tap at Black Isle bar, Inverness Wednesday 27th March 2024. Pours hazy mid gold with a little bit of haze. Soft mouthfeel, Belgian yeastiness, a little furry edge, nice carbonation. A little spiciness. Nice without ever really wowing me.

On tap at Black Isle bar, Inverness Wednesday 27th March 2024. Pours hazy mid gold, light haze. A little perfume, surprised at the abv, it doesn't taste quite this strong. Wheatiness , very subtle notes of banana, nice mouthfeel, now the chill has gone off this a little it's opening up a bit more.
