Copper colour. Low carbonation – nice one. Resiny, woody c-hops in the aroma with crystal malts and a hint of florals. Well-balanced body shows toasty notes and floral/citric hoppiness. Fairly bitter example.

Dark brown colour with golden highlights. The aroma is quite toffeeish with brown sugar notes. Relatively mild, clean character. Moderate body. Hint of raisin. Mild, slightly sweet finish.

Clearish amber body, medium clumping creamy light cream head. Nice citrusy hops aroma with grapefruit, orange peel, and a touch of lemon, also with a touch of pine. Reminds me of Bells Two-Hearted Ale. Surprisingly strong hoppy flavor with tons of citrus rind and pine, quite resiny, with a long, bitter finish. Clean, biscuity malts provide enough of a backdrop to prevent the hops from overwhelming the palate. This really pushes the limit of the APA category; it’s really more of an IPA. I’ve had two Oskar Blues beers now and both have been excellent. Thanks Larry (goldtwins) for the can!

Hazy bright copper coloured body with a dense tan head, poured with the reverse guinness effect out of a non-nitrogenated CAN! Aroma of fresh grapefruit, pine and floral hops, tons of malt, some caramalised sugars, a bit of yeast and a light spice. Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavour up front, full with a great malt backbone all the way through. Aftertaste lacks a little bit...only the hops come through with some mild malt and some sugars. Overall, a much better than expected beer, even though it had gotten good reviews. My favourite american canned beer, and one I’d like to keep on hand regularly - this one rivals some of Dominion’s strongholds on the APA category! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased in a six-pack from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia by good friend Phil (haddon90). I drank this one on 18-January-2005, courtesy of Phil-thanks again mate!

Deep ruby brown mahogany body under a huge off white head. Rich caramel malt aroma with just a touch of smokyness. The flavor is not quite as rich and smooth as the Robert the Bruce which I drank before this, but is sweet and malty and has a bit of smokyness to it that goes well in the finish. A little bit thinner body than the RtB. Still a very nice brew and I’ll be buying more of these Oskar Blues.

Deep clear amber color with a spectacular, creamy off white head. Malty aroma with hops coming through nicely! This is surprisingly good. Bitterness blended well with a malty presence and a long drying finish. Maybe I’m thrown off because this is the first beer I’ve drunk that was canned in more than 20 years. Very tasty!

Poured (from a can!) a deep garnet red, topped by a thin light tan head. Rich, chocolatey body with a toasted cheerios kick that sets in before the alcohol hits. Fairly dry and bitter. As the beer warms the flavor profile opens up with burnt caramel and brown sugars mingling with woody peat. Surprisingly rich and well-crafted. Thanks Larry (goldtwins) for the surprise can!

Super dark amber coloured body, almost deep brown with a super-dense tan head. The cork on the 750 mL bottle was almost impossible to get out, but once I did, no carbonation seemed inside the bottle. How wrong I was though on the pour! Aroma of strong caramel, toffee, crazy hops, alcohol, peaches and a bit more hops. Medium-bodied; Strong hop kick up front with a spicey finish and almost no malt backbone at all. Strong on hops, not strong on anything else. Some bitter flavours finish the beer with perhaps a few burnt sugars and some nuts. Overall, not as good as I had been expecting although the appearance showed me an untraditional IPA. I bought this 750 mL bottle at Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia and sampled it on 23-October-2004.

Paid $1.45 for a 12-oz single can. Amberish in color, HUGE head... lotsa floaters. Sweet fruity hops in the nose... lotsa sweet grapefruit and other citrusy aromas. Taste is bitter malty, with hops around... finishes tangy bitter with a slightly funky aftertaste. Overall, very nice.

(draught) Dark amber, bit cola-like; slight head, lacey. Nose of pure caramel, bit of 'jap' (liquorice, sweet). And then there are hops. Bitter flavour as combination of liquorice, dark malts, coffee and hops. It might taste a bit lopsided, yet, with reflection, great balance. Well bodied. I get some corn, somewhere. Aftertaste is hops-dominated. A beer with its own kind of balance - I like that.
