Description
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

A new release from the brewery, sampled at CBF 09. Murky, dark orange body. Nice glass-lacing. Good amount of hoppy fruits in aroma. Sappy oranges combined with citrus peels with a strong bitter support. Dry texture. Full bodied and rather heavy drinking (16.05.2009)

Reddish-pink in appearance with a bubbly head. Jam-like aroma. Taste of diluted strawberries. Very light on the surface. No bitterness whatsoever. It is not my style, so the disappointment is not that great. (Sampled at Ølfestival Valby 15.05.2009).

500ml bottle shared with OleR at the great drinking place called Ølbaren in Copenhagen. Rosewood body with just a thin ring at the surface. Peaty aroma and taste on a malt-fruity backbone. Crispy bitterness on the swallow. Satisfying (13.05.2009).

Bottle. Pours black with a big tan head. Smells sweet and chocolate. Tastes too sweet for me, rum and some rosted malts.

On tap at Copenhagen beer festival. Poured black with a brown head. Aroma consisted of coffee and undertones of caribbean spices. Flavor was dark with some spice. What I would expect out of a "Caribbean Stout."

Draught at KØ09. Mild grassy aroma. Muddy brown colour. The flavour is OK hoppy, weakly grassy with a hint of caramel. OK mild hop bite. 7 3 7 3 13 Bottle, 9.2%. Muddy brown colour. Very sweet flavour. Sourish notes with a hint of burnt rubber. Notes of dried fruits. Nicely hoppy. Tastes like American barley wine to me. But good nonetheless. 7 3 7 3 16
