Description
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

A brown beer, a head is quite small and beige. Aroma is mix of fruitness, dried fruits and breadyness. Taste has breadyness, some fruitness and also sourness. Medium bodied. Pretty weird and maybe not so good way.

Old rating - A 500ml bottle from my trip to Copenhagen a few years ago & cellared since. Pours jet black with a beige foamy head. Aromas & tastes of thick creamy coffee, dark chocolate, plums, toffee, roasted malt, slightly roasted sesame seeds & liquorice. Medium body. Warm slightly alcoholic bitter finish. Excellent imperial porter

Backlog October 2013. Clear, golden body under a big, white head. Mild fruity aroma with coriander. Taste is sweet malt with coriander and hint of citric fruit and spicy yeast. Some cellar notes. Medium body and moderate aftertaste. Feels a bit unbalanced.

Old rating - A 500ml bottle brought back from Copenhagen. A lovely strong Belgium ale with the 8.5% alcohol well hidden. Different bottle of beer in my home No. 1982

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a nutty brown with a slight haze and a tiny, off-white head. Toasted, biscuity malt aroma. Medium body, almost flast. Dusty malt accents and a slight tartness. No bitterness whatsoever. Seems old, tired and off although BB is 16 months from now. 010425

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost clear amber wit a small, rough, beige head. Dusty, roasty nose - suggesting more of a Brown Ale. Medium body, again roasty, notes of oranges and then a disturbing tartness. The licorice and residual sweetness as mentioned on the label is nowhere to be found. 180325
