Description
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

Bottled (Beer Hunter’s). Dark brown color, almost opaque, small brown head. Sweetish aroma of rhum, light hops and caramel. Medium-bodied. Light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Toasted caramel, milk, chocolate, rhum and raisins ... roasted and sweet.7 Reminds me about some milk stouts. Doesn’t feel like 11 , but has warming aftertaste. A bit too simple.

Bottled (Beer Hunter’s, BB 09/2009). Dark nut brown color, small brown head. Aroma has caramel, toasted banana and yeast. Good body for 5% beer. Toasted banana, yeast, light caramel in the flavor. Kind of floury finish. This bottle was slightly sour. Not one of the best from Hornbeer line.
