About
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

Århus2008. From tap. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Light wheaty, mild spiced and light citrusy aroma. Light fruity flavour with mild spiced note. Light wheaty finish. Mediocre yet clean.

Bottle at ÅBF08. Good grassy hop aroma. Hazy brown colour. Small head. Good caramelly, grassy hop flavour. Finishes slightly rough. Slightly thin mouthfeel.

Draught at Aarhus Festival. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy aroma, not very fruity. Moderate bitter flavor. Oily palate. A little boring.

Draft at Ølfestival, Århus, 2008. A hazy light yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of citrus and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of pommerans, leading to a dry wheaty finish. A bit too much pommerans for me. The body is thin.

Draught at Aarhus festival. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Orange colour. One of the few beers on festival with lasting head! Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long nice complex malty/hoppy finish. Creamy palate. Great stuff.

Draught at Aarhus beerfestival. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. Dark brown colour. Moderate malty and hopy aroma. Distinct smoke-notes. Moderate bitter flavor with light smoke tone. Average finish. Oily palate. Actually quite nice.
