From a 330ml bottle on 6/2/2017.Pours a murky dark amber with a big foamy head. As a huge fan of previous Super Beasts, I got a box of 16 as an Xmas present from the wife. Through about 12 now, so am now well familiar with the brew. The bottles are weird, slow gushers. It doesn’t burst out of the bottle but rather oozes foam, even when the bottle is half decanted. The nose is strong, sweet and fruity, with notes of berries and plums. In the mouth, it’s very sweet and rich, with blueberry the dominant flavour, along with some plum, date and spicy fruit sauce. There’s a big rye bitterness and booziness at the back. The texture is slick and syrupy, and the carbonation a bit excessive. Not as impressive as the past three iterations, and particularly let down by the carbonation. But it’s big, original, very tasty and quite impressive none the less.

From a 330ml bottle on 16/1/2017. Pours a clearish light golden with barely any head. The aroma is light and fruity, with melon the main feature. The taste is fruity (more melon and some stone fruit), which is met by a moderate to strong lemony tartness at the back, followed by a touch of spiciness. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation.I’m not the biggest fan of sour ales, but this one comes together quite. nicely, and is indeed a pleasant, refreshing summer brew. Nice name too.

Bottle. Another great label. Clear amber with a 3/2 inch head that gradually fades to a coat but hangs around. Lots of coffee in the aroma - vibrant, spicy, singed, acidic. Or maybe some of that’s smoked malt. Underneath there’s some bread and maybe a little chocolate. Some bitter oranges waft in too. I suppose you’d guess (slightly) smoky coffee stout. Full bodied, lowish carbonation. The smoke is more obvious upon a taste and the coffee not so prominent. Rich bready malt is fat rather than sweet - maybe the cocoa and/or oats is adding to that. Again oranges kind of float in at the end. Quite clean and perhaps that stops it from being cacophonous. Very clever and very good. [3.9]Gusher. Big white head. Coffee and smoke verges on plasticy, but what once seemed chocolate and now seems vanilla softens it until it’s more coffee-like again. Porridge-y. Not as good as it was, but still in decent shape. Leaving score as is but this one would be a 3.6.

Bottle. Translucent pale gold with a white head that fades fast. Sharply fruity aroma with lime melon, wheaty funk, mango. 7 Slippery texture, moderate carbonation. Moderately sour with stone fruit,then zestier fruity hops just edging it out at the end - the balance is lovely. Wheaty with creamy citrus, funky tropical notes. Very refreshing.

Bottled 21/9/16. Amber, slightly hazy, white head. Brooding citrus, pine sap, toffee. And booze. Bittersweet with raisins and caramel, tenor register citrus (macerating grapefruit peel), less pine than in the aroma. Strong bitterness. edsbrew1’s invocation of DFH (90 presumably) is about right for this fairly fresh bottle. But I don’t much care for that one either.

Pours ruby-tinted amber with no head.Nose shows cherry, a fair bit of funk, little else. Very faint.Flavours include light cherry and soft acidity. Again, quite subtle. Very little else.

From a 330ml bottle on 9/6/2016. Pours a murky dark brown with a medium head (gushed ut of the bottle). Has a sharp fruity aroma, with some yeast and biscuit. Flavour wise, there’s a dash of fruity sweetness (orange, peach) which is smashed in the face by a huge grapefruity, resiny bitterness which coats the tongue and hangs around forever. The texture is slightly creamy and the carbonation is average. This is a really intense and quite complex brew, and may be too much for all but the most ardent of hop heads.Enjoyable.

330ml bottle at Matt’s. BB 29/03/2016. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is yeasty (wild yeasts, similar to bretts), slightly sweet. Taste is spicy, wild yeasts, hoppy bitter. Hoppy bitter, wild yeast aftertaste.

Hazy to cloudy, amber color, small head. The aroma is a bit funky, and yeasty. Smooth, moderately sweet, some caramel flavor; the yeast plays a too big role, with astringency, funk, and a metallic flavor.
Weird; not enjoyable.

Bottle - Orange citrus candy like hops. Cloudy copper gold with a decent off white head. What a mess of dirty flavours. Sweet, funky, bitter and a long unpleasant finish.
