Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath. Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Raisin and chocolate malt aroma. Flavours of dark fruits, coffee, raisin and toffee. Doesn’t have that classic porter taste for me but is still quite a pleasant brew. Good.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Islington, London, 30 Nov 2014) Golden colour with foamy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus, tropical fruit and grass. Malty, fruity taste with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, grapefruit, grass and a generous citric bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made, with a fresh hop character. Nice one.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Islington, London, 30 Nov 2014) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with notes of caramel, red fruit and dark bread. Malty, slightly fruity taste with caramel, dark fruit, a touch of chocolate and gentle spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Nothing strange, just plain good beer, tasty and very well balanced. Nice one.

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Almost clear deep red - brown beer. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish malts. Bubblegum esters, somewhat spicy. Touch of tangy fruits before a dry and slightly bitter finish. Over dry and a bit stodgy but not bad by any means.

Keg at Craft Brighton. It pours darkest brown with a decent bubbly beige head. The nose is chocolate, peppermint, After Eights, liquorice, umami, dentists mouthwash and light coffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy, hard roast, menthol, burnt earth, charred, wood, light alcohol and tar with a dry, burnt roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice aroma, but the burnt notes on the taste are a bit too dominant. Interesting...

Tap at the Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin round off white head. The aroma is big malt, over ripe red fruit. The flavour is moderate bitter sweet with a rich cherry fruit yeast mineral palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
