Cask handpump The Flower Pot, Maidstone, Kent 4th December 2014. Pours sparkling clear gold with a bubbly white rim of bubbles. Certainly a gingery beer but with a hoppy snap, not too much ginger (i.e. not overdone) in fact spot on, its a lovely ginger beer in excellent condition. Very good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask at the pig’s ear beer fest 2014. Aroma is big sweet nutty caramel, tea bag, hop leaf. Flavour is sweet base pale malt, caramel and aggressive dirty filthy bitter hip. Completely out of balance. Clear Holden coloured pout with a lasting loose white head. Palate is grainy on the tongue touch of sweetness. Long dirty bitterness lingers with light biscuit. Little bit of hedgerow berry.

Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath. Ash brown pour, beige head. Hoary, wintery nose of bonfire toffee, figs, dates, sultana, raisin. Red apple and plum pudding flavour. Lots of warmth in this, almost hugworthy. A nice winter warmer, reminds me of the old Gales Festival Mild from yonks back.

Old Fountain. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and dry with decent fine carbonation. Very light pale malts. Grassy appley bitterness turning to harsh floral bitterness. Semi dry crispy finish. Long bitter linger. Yes, it’s a bitter bastard.
