Description
Kiuchi Brewery (木内酒造) is a brewery in Naka, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. It was established in 1823 by village headman Kiuchi Gihei as a sake and shochu producer. Craft beer production began in 1996 after a change in Japanese law governing micro brewing. A number of Kiuchi's products seek to combine European beer-making technology with traditional Japanese brewing techniques; for example, its XH Hitachino Nest Beer is matured in shochu casks.

300ml bottle. Crystal clear, very pale yellow tint (odd then that they choose to put this in a blue tinted bottle, which of course made it look green...). Aroma is fruity, melon, something sweet/syrupy that I can't quite pinpoint, possibly banana. Taste is sweet, melon, pear, floral, again possibly some banana, caramelised sort of flavour, some alcohol warmth but no burn and doesn't feel particularly boozy. Light-moderate carbonation.
Sweetest of the few sake I've tried so far but rather enjoyable.

Tap. Pours clear golden, medium white head, good lacing. Aroma is dusty, caramel, honey, perfume. Flavor is light plus sweet, light plus bitter. Interesting. Medium body.

Bottle from the Low Cost Beer online shop. Pours hazy yellow gold with a thin white head. Aromas of ginger and light sour grains. Taste is sweet ginger and light malt. Sweet finish.

A small taste from wiosna (bottle) @ Hitachino Brewing Lab Kanda Manseibashi. Pours cloudy copper with a medium head. Aroma is malts, caramel, strawberry. Flavor is malts, caramel, strawberry, hops. Not bad.
