Description

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before January 2020. Hazy, dark brown with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and moderately yeasty-spicy aroma of caramel, nuts, some chocolate, a touch of overripe banana and traces of raisins. Quite sweet, malty, yeasty-spicy and rather roasty taste of caramel, milk chocolate, toasted nuts, even some coffee, overripe banana and some raisins, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, yeasty-spicy, overall quite harsh finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and rather effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Fairly bitter for a Weizenbock, maybe a bit too much, but it prevents it from being cloying. Overall pretty decent by NHB standards, must be among the best I've had from them, even though it's far from flawless.

Bottleshare at Chez Smith. Clear deep reddish- amber beer, tidy tan head. Palate is light and fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Very mild dark malts, a trace of roast. Light piney hop. Little ripe fruits and mild bitterness. Light dry finish. It’s okay, bit wishy washy for the abv.
