Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of ginger. Light malts. Light spicy ginger flavour, straw, malts. Finish ginger, quite spicy. Refreshing and nice, but too much ginger for a table beer for my taste.
(from 75cL bottle @ Cat’s place. Thanks for sharing, Koen!)

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, bottled in December 2015. Minimally hazy, glowing, orangeish amber with a thin, soapy, off-white layer. Sourish-fruity, slightly funky aroma of orange, some barnyard, leather, white grapes and hints of caramel. Sourish-fruity, slightly funky taste of orange, barnyard, rhubarb, leather, oak and some caramel, followed by a medium long, quit tart and oaky finish. Medium body, spritzy and quite astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, complex and very refreshing stuff! Lovely!

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, bottled in February 2016. Minimally hazy, golden yellow with a thin, soapy, white layer. Very smoky, slightly fruity aroma of ash, burnt rubber, peat, straw and citrus. Slightly sourish-fruity and smoky taste of ash, burnt rubber, peat, straw and citrus, followed by a medium long, moderately tart, very smoky and peaty finish. Thin to medium body, just slightly effervescent mouthfeel, almost flat. So far I really like the stuff from katjelam, especially the Grätzer which was a treat. But this is so unpleasant, the smoke notes are so disturbing (and I usually love smoked beers in all varieties) and it just seems that barrel-aging was not the wisest choice here. Big disappointment, it’s challenging to finish the bottle.

0.33 l bottle from ’Stoom’ at 3.5% abv, bottled in December 2015. Hazy, yellow with a massive, dense, stable, white head. Sourish-fruity, slightly smoky aroma of lemon peel, gooseberry, some wheat, even some wood and hints of smoked ham. Sourish-fruity, slightly smoky taste of lemon peel, gooseberry, some rhubarb, wheat and some smoked ham, followed by a short, moderately tart, slightly smoky finish. Thin to medium body, spritzy, slightly astringent and quite effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Refreshing, very citrusy interpretation with subtle notes of smoke. Unfortunately too much carbonation, but, especially regarding the abv, a really decent beer.

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierhoeder’, bottled in September 2015. Minimally hazy, pale straw yellow with a thin, soapy, quickliy diminishing, white layer. Sourish-fruity, slightly funky aroma of lemon, plums, dough and a bit of rhubarb. Heavy sour, fruity and a little funky taste of lemon, plums, rhubarb, some dough and hints of buttermilk, followed by a short, very tart finish. Thin to medium body, spritzy and astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The plums are quite subtle, but they fit in well. Overall nice and refreshing, but too sour to be quaffable and also not overly complex.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Pale golden color, hazy. White head, quickly disappearing. Aroma’s: sulphur, a bit rotten eggs, rubber, sourish, really weird. Retronasal it’s sour, a bit rubber/leather, smoky. Flavor is sour. Light bodied. Finish is slightly dry, but no bitterness. Smoke and sour is not a very good combination imho.
