In 1758 the first master brewer, Peter Still from Fischbach, was able to start work on the Hammersee. In 1804 the Electorate of Bavaria decided to privatize the brewery. In 1884 Johann Baptist Jacob, great-grandfather of the current generation of owners, Marcus and Friedrich Jacob, acquired the company. The next two generations Jacob (each with first name Friedrich) took over his pioneering spirit and the iron will to keep the company up to date for the benefit of quality and employees. The continuation of the family tradition is assured even today. For the future, the next generation of Jacob is ready to successfully carry the centuries-old values into the fifth generation.

Bottle from Hereford Beer House and drunk at home. Very dark brown cloudy beer lasting tan head. Banana aroma. Some clove. Medicinal aroma. Settles down a bit more in the mouth. Some chocolate banana. very herby. Some bitterness on the finish. Bit herby for me. It's interesting no doubt. Bit too big and harsh for me.

Ähnelt dem dunklen Weizen aus gleichem Haus (ja, dies ist ein dunkles Weißbier, auch wenn es hier auf Ratebeer nicht als solches geführt wird). Etwas weniger dunkel, allerdings genauso viel Hefe, die schön durchs Glas wabert. Gekochte Früchte, Banane, Karamalz und Schokolade sind wie beim dunklen Jacob-Weizen zu finden. Allerdings etwas reduzierter. Auch etwas weniger süß. Dafür mehr würzige und bittere Noten. Das macht es nuancenreicher und damit auch interessanter. Schön weich und kleines bisschen süffiger als das normale Jacob dunkle Weißbier. Ein tolles Bier.

Ordentliche Menge Hefe die durchs Glas wabert. Wunderbar weich, eher wenig Kohlensäure. Gekochte Früchte, Banane, Karamalz und eine schokoladige Note bilden einen schönen Einklang. Eher auf der süßen Seite. Ein richtig gutes dunkles Weizen, gefällt mir sogar noch besser als die bereits hochanständige helle Variante.

Kräftige Farbe (übrigens mit schöner, ordentlicher Hefetrübung). Recht süßer Geruch für ein helles Weißbier. Geschmacklich auch relativ süß (aber nicht wie bei dunklen Bieren malzig-süß). Durchaus angenehm, sehr harmonisch. Die Hefe spielt beim Geschmack deutlich mit. Die Hauptrolle hat aber eine gekocht und leicht vergoren fruchtige Note. Eine säuerliche Nuance blitzt ganz kurz mal auf, auch etwas Getreide. Weich. Gute Substanz. Dass dieses Bier bis jetzt 26 DLG-Gold-Prämierungen in Folge abgeräumt hat, kann man irgendwie durchaus nachvollziehen.

500 ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber / brown, creamy head. A lot of clove, gingerbread spices, some banana, some citrus. Mild dryness. Medium to light bodied, oily to watery texture, lively carbonated, mild dry but abrupt finish.
