Description
Matteo & Cristina Minelli founded Birra Flea in 2013, with the dream of showing their love for the town of Gualdo Tadino and combining the best traditions with an innovative approach. They decided to create a product with a very strong local identity: a beer containing the best fruits of their hometown. The output is 55.000 hectoliters of Italian craft beer per year!
Birra Flea is produced from the well-known waters of Gualdo Tadino and the best malts - 100% Italian barley - produced and selected from the Minelli's farm. Birra Flea is produced with only wheat and barley malts - no other unmalted grains - and is both unfiltered and unpasteurized. It is refermented in the bottle in order to preserve its organoleptic properties, without the addition of preservatives and chemical additives.

Bottle 33 cl. Cloudy, opaque golden with a smallish, off-white head. Dull, yeasty aroma with a hint of fruit. Medium body, again mostly yeasty with only a hint of fruit. Hardly any bitterness. Not worth your time or money. 180526

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy, opaque yellow with a lacing, white head. Yeasty, phenollic aroma. Medium body, more yeast, more phenols but now things turn chemical and nasty - fusty even. Horrible. 140526

Selver, Tallinn. Dark golden colour, small white head. Caramalt, light spiceyness and alcohol in the nose. Some caramalt, yeast spiceyness and alcohol also in the flavour. Kind of Leffe Blond variation with more booze.

Caramalt and decent smoke in the nose. Amber colour and off-white head. Light-bodied. Some harsh bitterness, sweet nuts and smoke. Watery finish. A bit odd combination of sweetish pale ale and smoke. From Tallinn.

Bijna zwarte kleur, lichtbruin schuim. Thuis uit een flesje. De ipa smaak haalde ik er niet uit. Wel een aangenaam licht bitter bier.

500ml bottle at our apartment in Serralunga d'Alba. Final beer for about six weeks. Cloudy amber, off-white head. Smooth, full bodied red ale, quite yeasty, solid amber malt, moderate sweet malt, nice enough.
