Description
The Nashville Brewery began operating in 1859; opening its doors to a blossoming city. Located just outside the city center on High Street (now 6th Avenue), the hand-crafted local beer quickly satisfied the thirst of the hard-working citizens.

Though operations halted briefly during the Civil War, the brewery overcame the disruptions and re-opened in 1865. With a focus on German style lagers, the then named Nashville Brewing Company continued to brew quality beer through the end of the 19th century. A historical marker now marks the spot where the brewery once operated in Nashville’s famous “Gulch” district.

Mertie’s dream of reviving the Nashville Brewing Company became a reality when Nashville Lager, hit the market in December 2016. Mertie partnered with long-time friend Kent Taylor, co-founder of Blackstone Brewing Co., to contract brew the brand. It is appropriate that Blackstone is Nashville’s oldest operating craft-brewery, dating back to 1994. Over 165 years since the Nashville Brewery opened, the brand is now available again for thirsty Nashvillians to enjoy again.

We are proud to continue this brewing tradition and create the next chapter in this brewery’s history. We hope you enjoy this wonderful beer made by Nashville’s oldest brewery. Cheers!

Not a bad festbier, mildly sweet with notes of grain and toasted bread and apple against a firm floral bitterness. Decent pint.

Bottle from Filling Station: pours pale and fizzy. Light grain and corn. Taste is minimal and that is the point. Fine for what it is.

12 oz. bottle from Kroger in Brentwood, TN. Pours a crystal clear light amber color with a thick off white head and very good retention. Fair lacing. Zero aroma. Very light caramel flavor and nothing else going on. Inoffensive but fairly bland and forgettable. Low carbonation. Medium-light body. Thin body. I like amber ales but this was a disappointment.

12 oz. bottle from Kroger in Brentwood, TN. Pours a crystal clear light gold color with a white head and good retention. Small spots of lacing. Slightly sharp pilsner malt aroma. The taste follows the nose. Slightly sharp pilsner malt and bread flavor with a short grainy finish. Light bitterness. Medium body. Lively carbonation. A decent, mellow, very drinkable example of the style.
