Cloudy yellow-light-brownish wih a small head. Light banana scent, with some gumminess in there. Flavor is pretty banana, with nice spiced clove in there. Kinda wheaty... definitely a nice hefeweizen.

Bottled. Dark black. Vanilla wood and licorice up front. Sweet and roasty with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Super rich with balanced woodiness, but simple straight forward malt character. Bitter coffee finish.

2004 bottle. Moderately dense, blackish-brown with some lighter brownish-red tinges on the edge. Medium beige head. Aroma of roast and toast, spanish coffee, fresh hops and alcohol. Flavor shows coffee, plenty of roast, some sweet barley notes, a hint of chocolate and a decent amount of alcohol. Moderate amount of filtration, as there was only a touch of sediment at the bottom. Though it has a touch of cream/vanilla notes, it’s a bit dry/harsh and has too much thinning on the end. I have not been impressed with the mouthfeel of this brewery’s beers.

Slightly hazy amber/bronze coloured body with a nice dense off-white coloured head. Aroma of brown sugar, pit fruit (figs and dates), caramel, alcohol and some other fruits: apricots and pears. Medium to full-bodied; Strong sweetness up front of sugars with pit fruits dominating. Maltiness and some hops are very noticeable, but not as much as the sugars. Aftertaste is fairly clean for a barley wine, showing some pit fruit and a little bitterness. Overall, a decent barley wine, not great-but good to try! Clear copper/amber coloured body with a nice dense tan head. Aroma of pure super-fresh warrior hops, balanced malt and a good sweet caramel aroma. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour up front with a very well-balanced maltiness. Lingering sweetness of caramel and burnt sugars, but the hops dominate. Aftertaste doesn’t last too long, but the hops are the most resident in the palate. Overall, a good beer to try, definitely nice to have fresh, but lacking a bit in the taste. A hazy orange beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of oranges and hops. The flavor is sweet malty with lots of hops and a thin body. Maybe the thinness comes from the rather simple flavor.

Bottle, dated August 31. Darker than the style would indicate, which is different. It’s still a pretty young beer, which may account for its grainy taste. Also a little winey.

Amber coloured with a low head. Oily hop-aroma. Grassy hop-flavour. Drinkable but not oustanding.

2004 bottle. Tabernash Weiss. Mildly golden ale with pale yellow tinges and a big white head. Small bubbles and a decent dose of sediment. Aroma of light lemon and wheat, hints of clove and a touch of bubblegum. Flavor is moderately citrusy, though not terribly tart. Lightly bittersweet yeast apparency on the finish, with some wateriness. Hints of clove and banana, but very subtle there. Well balanced and drinkable. 6/4/7/4/16
2005 bottle (11/08/05), drunk on 3/19/06. Left Hand Haystack. The bottles just showed up at our store in the last week or so, but yet they are 4.5 months old already...Same appearance as noted before, though not too much retention, no lacing. The nose is candy-sweet bubblegum, very sugary, with light hay, notes of dry bananas here and there with a dominating malted wheat dryness. The flavor is almost sickly sweet. Sugary bubblegum, tart-sour wheat heaviness. Sweet and ending bland. Almost no crispness, no lively hop activity, overcarbonated even after sitting out for quite a while and warming. Loose, watery texture. 5/3/5/2/10 Score is an average of the two bottles I’ve had. The Tabernash sure seemed a lot different than the Haystack.
