Description
In 1838 the Meisl brothers bought the Feldschlößchen mansion and estate near Dresden and began the construction of a lager brewery. In 1858 they founded the ‘Aktienbrauerei zum Feldschlößchen’. At the start of the 1960s the three Dresden breweries: Feldschlößchen, Felsenkeller and Waldschlößchen formed the state-owned company VEB Dresdner Brauereien. In 1979 the VE Drinks Combine for the Dresden District was formed which also included the new Dresden-Coschütz Brewery. After reunification in 1990 there was a reorganization and the founding of the Sächsischen Brau-Union (SBU). In 1992 the Holsten-Brauerei AG acquired the SBU which was renamed the Feldschlößchen Aktiengesellschaft Dresden in 1995. In 2004 Carlsberg acquired the majority of shares of Holsten. Since 2011 the Feldschlößchen brewery is back in eastern German hands when Carlsberg sold the brewery to TCB Beverages, a medium-sized brewery group,

500ml bottle. Cloudy, dark yellow-ish, golden colour with average to huge, frothy, osteoporosing, barely lacing, white head. Grainy malty and minimally fruity aroma, hints of silage, a touch of apple. Taste is sweet-ish fruity and slightly grainy, pale malty, notes of non-filtrated apple juice.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, minimally dry, nevertheless minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, prickly carbonation.
Awkward nose, relatively sweet and therefore not overly refreshing - so-so.

Canned at 4.8% ABV. Herbal Adjuncts. Clear gold with a tall off-white frothy head . Pretty a cheap pilsner. Sweter than necessary courtesy the sugar. Grass. Not much evidence of adjuncts. Light to medium ending hop bitterness. Very odd. I guess it's a successful effort of making the cheap even more cheap. Nice buisiness.

A World Cup Of Beers#13. GERMANY. An international brew with the football and as it's Deutschland playing I've gone for a golden carbonated lager originating from Dresden. It has lots of associated aroma, but is bland and dull in taste as a lager. Its bubbles give it a pretty appearance, but just like the German football side this evening, below-par. Drank whilst watching the group game Germany vs Ivory Coast.

Imperial pint can. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is malt, bread, spicy hop. Taste is slightly dry. Medium bitter finish. It was cheap and it was a whole pint, hard to fault it.

An English pint can. I wonder why. Made in Germany. Clear gold with a decent white frothy head. Pale malt, bread, light pea hop, metal, grass. Medium dry. Light to medium ending hop bitterness. A budget Hell But still a Hell. Acceptable for that money.

Barwa ciemno miedziana, klarowne, piana jasno beżowa, dość obfita, drobna i dość trwała.

W aromacie słodowe.

W smaku słodowe, słodycz umiarkowana, lekka popiołowość, do tego lekkie akcenty koźlakowe - melanoidyny, skórka od chleba, ale raczej dość subtelne. Kontra chmielowa znikoma.

Goryczka do niskiej, nieco brakuje, wysycenie ciut za wysokie, ciało lekko wodniste.

Ma pewne niedociągnięcia.

Tap at the Stammhaus. Shinier amber body, maybe bit hazy, off-white head. Bit metallic caramelly aroma, some dried fruit. Smooth taste, pleasantly grainy, quite metallic, nice body... Hooh.. shame about the metallic notes, it has potential.
