Description
In 1838 the Meisl brothers bought the Feldschlößchen mansion and estate near Dresden and began the construction of a lager brewery. In 1858 they founded the ‘Aktienbrauerei zum Feldschlößchen’. At the start of the 1960s the three Dresden breweries: Feldschlößchen, Felsenkeller and Waldschlößchen formed the state-owned company VEB Dresdner Brauereien. In 1979 the VE Drinks Combine for the Dresden District was formed which also included the new Dresden-Coschütz Brewery. After reunification in 1990 there was a reorganization and the founding of the Sächsischen Brau-Union (SBU). In 1992 the Holsten-Brauerei AG acquired the SBU which was renamed the Feldschlößchen Aktiengesellschaft Dresden in 1995. In 2004 Carlsberg acquired the majority of shares of Holsten. Bottle picked up from Appel Getrankemarkt, Moosburg and consumed at home Wednesday 20th December 2023. Pours clear gold with a sticky white head. Wow this is bitter, there is a dry finish, really surprised at the bitterness, nice softness in the mouth, grassy hops, there is some sweetness but it's furiously bitter. Like this, really good beer, maybe I rather like a cheap and cheerful Pilsner.

Bottle, 7.1%. Good fruity aroma, hint of banana and some malt syrup. Cloudy dark golden colour with a big stable creamy white head. The flavour is fruity, sweet, malty with notes of malt syrup and dried apricot and a late banana finish. Flavourful, but still fairly light and easily drinkable.
