Can. A creamy, finger-thick off-white head leaves lacings as one drink the clear, golden beer. Nice citrusy, flowery and resiny with maltyness in the back. A bit sweet in the flavor maybe, but with sufficient levels of bitterness to deal with it. Pale malts, some hints of carame, flowery and resiny hops, and tropical fruits. Smooth and full-bodied on the palate, finishing with a nice bitterness and hop flavors. Certainly a nice one, would expect something like this being from California. 120218

Mmmm. Cake. And this beer does taste like cake; the vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon all layer themselves on the palate, giving the beer the soul of something straight from the Charleston Bakery. And the habeneros-- I’ll be honest. This bottle scared me for a while because of those evil Scoville-packed bastards, but there’s no tear-gas infused heat to be found. The peppers provide the mildest of bumps to the finish of the beer, an extra bit of flair that finishes the brew with a nice flourish. Westbrook’s hit the ground running, and this beer caps off a helluva inaugural year.
